Re: make stereo from 2 cheap USB sound cards each with mono in

Thank you Merlyn, I tried with the minimum of options AND IT WORKS !! jp@jpt-quad-core:~$ alsa_in -j CartSON2 -d hw:2 selected sample format: 24bit - real delay = 2541 The delay is larger but it is steady and there is no more 150 Hz. My problem is solved ! EDIT : I measured the real latency : 45 ms ...

Re: make stereo from 2 cheap USB sound cards each with mono in

Hello,

Well I tried to discuss the topic on irc.freenode.org #jack but it did not seem that many people were interested in the topic :? . Considering that we are exposed to poor quality if we use two USB cards to record I think it is not worthwhile digging it further. I give up.

Re: make stereo from 2 cheap USB sound cards each with mono in

The date on the bottom of the man page is January 2019, so alsa_in is probably still active. It might be possible to get it working using information from -v and -i , or on irc. -i Instrumentation. This logs the 4 important parameters of the samplerate control algorithm every 1ms. You can pipe this...

Re: make stereo from 2 cheap USB sound cards each with mono in

I had a look at man alsa_in There are a lot of options, and -r is unnecessary. 'selected sample format 32 bit' seems a bit weird as the hardware won't be able to sample at 32 bits. That could be the internal resolution of course. I added -r just to be sure both cards have the same resolution. Selec...

Re: make stereo from 2 cheap USB sound cards each with mono in

Have you checked the JACK connections and made sure an output isn't connected to an input in JACK and you're getting feedback? Here is one of the sequences I made ( this one on a former dual-core system with JACK launched on the EDIROL UA25 as hw:1). ALSA_IN command : launching as CARTSON2 the USB ...

Re: make stereo from 2 cheap USB sound cards each with mono in

What is the 150Hz like? A buzz or a sine tone? I can't think of a way this would originate in the digital domain. Is it an earth problem between the two cards? It's a buzz but it is impossible that it comes from a earth problem : each card alone works perfectly well. I do not even touch the cards o...

Re: make stereo from 2 cheap USB sound cards each with mono in

I tried to make the same but with two stereo USB cards to provide a 4 ways recorder under Ardour5. I use as a first card a Scarlet Focusrite 2i4 and as a second one an Edirol UA25 like this : 0 [HDMI ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI HDMI HDA ATI HDMI at 0xfeb64000 irq 39 1 [Loopback ]: Loopback - Loopback Loo...

Hello from France (Lille) : keep on rocking in a GNU free world !

Hello you all, I am glad to be here as a "former" user of various Windows Cakewalk DAWs and as a guitar player (+ DIY tube amps maker) . I have just recently turned to Linux to discover the obvious superiority of the audio softwares when compared to what Microsoft policies have lead up to ...
