Re: escape velocity -- instrumental melodic tech death metal

Personally, I'd be curious to try a half time on drums, like a stompy 4/4 plus glitch beats or something, bring out the poly rhythm, I'd have to try it out editing. That's a cool suggestion! It could definitely help extend the piece, that's for sure. Also great dramatic arc, slowly going from mild ...

Re: Drop-D (Matteo Mancuso duet solo challenge)

Cool idea and great execution! I dig your playing and especially like the phrasing. The ascending run that starts around the :22 second mark is tight!

escape velocity -- instrumental melodic tech death metal

A short melodic tech-deathy track. Pushing my own limits at 250bpm, so things get a lil sloppy at times.

Listen to escape velocity by modusjonens on #SoundCloud https://soundcloud.com/modusjonens/escape-velocity

  • Hydrogen for drums
  • Ardour 7.1.0 as DAW

Thanks for listening! 🤘

Re: Diablo | Heavy Dn

Awesome to hear some dnb here!! I think there are some great sounds in here and the mix sounds even overall. I think the break around halfway through is a good call. Helps to do a bit of a reset. One thing that stuck out to me is the section starting around 1:49. There is noticeable dissonance betwe...

No one commented on the solo so I will...

FREAKING LOVE IT!!!

Hydrogen and Drumgizmo should team up!

Thanks!!!! I appreciate it.

I should investigate DrumGizmo, but so far I've been a pretty happy user of Hydrogen.

Re: short instrumental metal track w/guitar solo

Hey @modusjonens , this was a fun little track. Hm, perhaps a little more "click" in the kick production. :) It's short and to the point. It feels complete. I actually thought it was already pretty clicky, I'll have to give this a listen back and consider bumping up 4k on the kicks. Thank...

Do you listen to/enjoy your own music regularly?

After a few years of consistent recording and writing, I'm starting to realize I make music mostly for, well, myself. I post plenty of material online and share here obviously. But at the end of the day, it's my own feelings about the piece that matter the most to me. :D I feel that if I'm able to c...

Re: What place does music hold in your life?

I'm only listening to music until something better comes along.

Seriously though, at it's best I find it like a clear, safe passageway to a deeply spiritual place, if only ever so briefly. Hard to conceive of many things fundamentally more beautiful.

Re: Mud - Rocket cover atempt

Is the drummer only using hit hats and a snare ?

There is no bass drum ? Or is he using two different snares ?

I think the kick drum just sounds very "clicky", but I'm pretty sure it is a kick and not a second snare.

short instrumental metal track w/guitar solo

I spent some time today defining a custom drum kit setup and patterns in Hydrogen. I didn't intend to write a song today, but I felt like laying down some chords and doing a bit of shredding over the drum patterns. This is the result of that process :D https://on.soundcloud.com/W4SSL I did my drum p...

Thanks for posting this -- I really like the idea and enjoy "Walhalla" in particular. It reminds me of the intro to Hallucinogen's The Herb Garden.

This one gives me some serious Vince DiCola vibes. Your guitar tone is excellent and the solo has a huge emotional impact. Thanks for sharing!
