Re: Has anyone tried the hardware iLok USB device with linux?

Ah that gives me some hope then! When I loaded an Alloy 2 license into my license manager, the iLok dongle logo was darkened, but the little laptop wasn't, which led me to believe I couldn't do a software authentication. I'll keep playing with it! I'll let you know if I manage to get it working some...

Has anyone tried the hardware iLok USB device with linux?

I have the iLok license manager running and working on Manjaro with a few different plugins. I don't have an iLok device yet, but am considering getting one, since iZotope plugins require it to authenticate. Has anyone tried this? I've never used an iLok dongle on any platform, so I'm not sure how t...

Re: Ultralite AVB

ah sorry, I just found the bottom bit about how your device doesn't have the older firmware versions that some others do; that's unfortunate. Hopefully MOTU is working on this. Could you maybe get an ADAT <-> USB box that plays better with Linux? Never tried it, just a random idea. The conversion wi...

Re: Ultralite AVB

superb, have you tried different versions of the firmware? MOTU has published all historical firmware versions (I think it's upstream here; I can link it if you can't find it) for their various AVB devices. I went down a similar path as you are: patching the realtime kernel, setting thread prioritie...

Re: Ultralite AVB

When I did this, I needed to update the line numbers in the patch files, but it was reasonably obvious where the patches belonged. I assumed it was a matter of a slightly different kernel version.

Re: Ultralite AVB

Thanks for the new patches for proprietary mode, Drumfix! I'll hopefully get a chance to try them out soon. Update on the stability of the old firmware version: still works great! I just had a recording session last night, with no issues at all. I'm optimistic that these patches will allow me to use...

Re: Ultralite AVB

With! I can try it without, if you're interested; I was only running the newest firmware before. The patch and build process is surprisingly not that bad regardless. I had to make a small change of line numbers in one of the patchfiles to get it to work with my distribution of the realtime kernel (M...

Re: Ultralite AVB

Alright, this seems to be working with a pretty large buffer (2048 samples, 6 periods) at 24/96; I've patched six channels of outputs to inputs in the analog domain, and configured my DAW to thread a tone through out/in/out/in ... with six OI pairs. I'm going to record the result for about an hour a...

Re: Ultralite AVB

I just downgraded my firmware to v1.1.4+923, and it solves the channel hopping! Unfortunately, though, the audio gets a little crunchy sometimes, which makes it unusable. I'm optimistic this is just a matter of getting the buffer settings right; hopefully soon it'll be solid!

Re: Ultralite AVB

Interesting, I've tried setting my device to proprietary mode in this way. In proprietary mode, audio plays from multiple channels (only assigned to one), and periodically starts and stops, a few times per second. If I switch it back to class compliant mode, the channel hopping is as before: one cha...

Re: Ultralite AVB

Well that's rather unfortunate, but I suppose MOTU is under no obligation to support use of their products on a non-supported OS. For my use cases, I think 24 channels is plenty; maybe that could change though. I think I'll try reverting my 16A to old firmware. I'm unsure if the channel count issue ...

Re: Ultralite AVB

I just tried it; there seems to be a reason I picked 24. The web interface won't let me select any more than 24 channels, and changes the number I specify to 24 if it's larger. The specs indicate that I can use 32 at 96k, but maybe that's an error. I also tried with 16 channels, and get the same cha...

Re: Ultralite AVB

When using JACK, I see 24 in and 24 out. This is the number I specified when configuring jackd (via Cadence), and also the number I picked in the web interface to my 16A. The 16A lets you make available a variable number of channels to the computer. At the sample rate I'm using (96k), it's capable o...

Re: Ultralite AVB

That's dealt with the error in the script, but unfortunately audio is still bouncing around between channels. I've attached the updated output of your motu.txt script. I've set the sample rate to 96k, 24 bits, priority value of 60 selected in Reaper. I've tried buffer sizes of 256 and 1024 samples, ...

Re: Ultralite AVB

I do indeed get Irq of related USB host controller is 123 now! However, there are a couple other issues that seem to be preventing this from working (I added two lines to the script to comment out the original USB2 stuff): ./motu.txt: line 25: echo: write error: Input/output error ... chrt: failed t...
