Re: Ugritone has linux-native drum plugin!

Bummer, but exactly the information I'm looking for. Thanks Fru! At one point in time, their drum plugins were Windows and Mac only. So I'll keep my fingers crossed that they'll eventually offer a Linux version of their other software. I see LOTS of stuff I'd happily pay for, in a linux-native forma...

Re: Ugritone has linux-native drum plugin!

Although kind of dated, I just found this thread, so hope I'm not violating any forum terms with necro-bumping. I just wanted to say that this thread is EXCELLENT, and I only wish I'd found it sooner. I've been frustrated with the drum situation on Linux DAWs for a long time now. I've been looking f...

Re: Scarlett 6i6 & Linux/Ardour

Hedon: I hope you can still use the 6i6. I don't mean to jump in here and detract or hijack your thread. The simple fact is I also have a 6i6 2nd gen and am using Ardour as my DAW. I have monitoring issues just as you described. Ubuntu 16.04.5 lowlatency kernel. I would like tips on proper setup if...

Re: Linux support Behringer UMC404HD?

@Hedon: thanks for the tip on activating everything in alsamixer for capturing! Glad you've got it working. P.S. Doesn't the 404 hiss/make noise? When I use it as an analogue mixer I cant' seem to get the volume of my synth high enough to get over the noise without overdriving/clipping the 404. I d...

Re: Linux support Behringer UMC404HD?

GOT IT! Stumbled onto this article: https://www.maketecheasier.com/alsa-utilities-manage-linux-audio-command-line/ Screenshot of alsamixer "help" shows that spacebar will "toggle capture". Sure enough, looking at the capture channels of my card indicated a middle channel (labeled...

Re: Linux support Behringer UMC404HD?

For instance, my 404HD device is #3 in Alsa settings. amixer -c3 indicates 4 input channels are available (as expected), but 2 (identified as rear left and rear right, respectively) are turned "off". jim@Asus-TT:~$ amixer -c3 Simple mixer control 'Mic',0 Capabilities: cvolume cswitch Captu...

Re: Linux support Behringer UMC404HD?

Not sure how to embed screenshot like you did, so here's link to screenshot. Qjackctl looks like this: https://imgur.com/ttnzIu4 https://imgur.com/ttnzIu4 I'm seeing the four (4) inputs AND outputs. I strongly suspect there's a config file somewhere that Jack is using from my previous UMC-202HD devi...

Re: Linux support Behringer UMC404HD?

@Hedon: I think that you're not using Jack as a layer on ALSA. On my Linux PC the 404 doesn't work w/ only Alsa either... (only just found out). The 4 in/4 out only works w/ Jack. You can start Jack w/ the following command (if the 404 is audio device number 3, like in your post above): jackd -d al...

Re: Linux support Behringer UMC404HD?

My computer is running Lubuntu 16.04 with KXStudio repos. I was using a Behringer UMC202HD to record in Ardour and was fantastically pleased with the device, its clarity, and latency. But I also thought it'd be nice to record 4 tracks simultaneously, rather than be limited to 2. I saw the "big ...

Re: Scarlett 6i6 & Linux/Ardour

Wolfgang - I enjoyed your musical snippet! Not my style of music, but can still appreciate the musicianship of other genres. I dig your bass tone also! Pablo - Thank you for that tip! That does indeed sound like my issue. With no "baseline" to draw from, my range of trouble-shooting is so ...

Update, I think I got it working, but the problem may have been me. WJL...thank you for the FC screenshots! With your internal mapping confirmed (I believe you are the "Recording-2 analogue input" pre-set), I was able to match my settings to yours. However, at first, it appeared to have no...

Re: Scarlett 6i6 & Linux/Ardour

However, still getting no sound. Wondering if the internal routing/mapping is now the issue? Those of you who have the 6i6 working, what do you have the internal routing set as within the Focusrite Control Center? Did you check the levels in alsamixer? What am I checking for? alsamixergui looks lik...

Re: Scarlett 6i6 & Linux/Ardour

Solved the problem with Cadence hanging/freezing on card switchover. Looking at Cadence logs showed the following error entries: Tue Nov 27 14:04:40 2018: ERROR: ALSA: cannot set channel count to 2 for capture Tue Nov 27 14:04:40 2018: ERROR: ALSA: cannot configure capture channel Tue Nov 27 14:04:4...

Scarlett 6i6 & Linux/Ardour

Hello all, Former Windows/Cubase user here, looking to make the move to Linux. It's been many years since I've been "active" with music, but I'm finally at the age & stage where kids have moved out, I've downsized, and I've finally got the $$$ and time to pick up my music hobbies again...
