Re: How to make ADAT work ?

A bit of background ... ADAT has an embedded clock. The audio data is coded in a way that allows the clock to be recovered. Lets take connecting the Audient to the Behringer ... The Audient has ADAT out only. This means it must be the master. To use the Audient as a slave, it has a wordclock input. ...

Re: guitarix2-0.45.0 released

Is it a 4k Display? Do you change the Sample rate on the fly? l'm on the Road currently, so only short mobile typing. That's not a problem. Whenever you get time. The graphics thing -- no, it's not a 4K display. Without NAM : https://i.ibb.co/J3sVGNV/Guitarix-Good.png Then, if I add NAM : https://i...

Re: guitarix2-0.45.0 released

I've found a couple of issues with the NAM module. The first one is cosmetic and not a big deal. When adding the NAM module while Guitarix is full screened, the NAM module takes up the whole screen, unlike other modules that stay at a narrower width. The second issue is more of a problem, and it's t...

Re: Switching to Linux for better drivers?

... However, in my experience, much of the Linux support for audio devices that require a driver is from single persons who do it out of their love for Linux and are not affiliated w/ the manufacturer. So in my opinion hardware is never better supported by Linux than by Windows. ... You keep postin...

Re: arch alternatives

Reaper isn't in the official repos as such. It's in the AUR -- the Arch user repository . The official repos are always up to date, perhaps too much for some people. I regularly update my kernel, and in the four years I've been using Arch, updating my kernel has messed up my system twice. It's easi...

I tried 0.0.11 and it's still not working with JACK for me. I'm going to have to do a bug report, aren't I? :D

Re: I need help! What is the most perfectly functioning audio/midi Interface for Linux?

Yes, I tried a Behringer 404 and it worked without problems. There isn't anything fancy about them, and all controls are available on the interface itself, not in software. The output level was low, which is part of how they make their interfaces so cheap. I would think Focusrite interfaces are now ...

Re: I need help! What is the most perfectly functioning audio/midi Interface for Linux?

You don't really know until you plug it in. Predicting the future is a risky business, but I'm going to say -- it will work. The fact that it's on ALSA developer's radar is a good sign. There have been more and more class compliant interfaces. "Woah," you might think, "manufacturers a...

Re: I need help! What is the most perfectly functioning audio/midi Interface for Linux?

I take it this is a USB interface that you're looking for? I have an old RME PCI card which works -- it even has a control panel like Total Mix, not that I use it. Believe it or not it was £50 on ebay, as nobody wants PCI cards any more as motherboards tend not to have PCI slots. For USB though I wo...

Re: Using HX Stomp in combination with Virtualbox

You have to select USB passthrough for the device you want to use with the virtual machine. It's a while since I've done this, but I seem to remember there was a menu item on the virtual machine window to do this.
