Re: Linux Digital Audio and Music Workstation Comparison Matrix

And what makes a forum any different than real life? When it comes to good manners, do you always feel so "entitled" to jump into a group and tell them to talk about what YOU want to talk about when the conversation evolves into something you're just not interested in? Probably not..... in...

Re: Linux Digital Audio and Music Workstation Comparison Matrix

And yet another thread derailed. Actually, we're good. You're welcome to join into the conversation but I'll pass on your suggestion to put a halt to discussing something so important. Nobody is forcing you to read this thread and nobody should be telling people to shutdown a conversation. If you h...

d.healey, Your response is exactly right. This is what people do not understand because they never actually took the time to understand the definition of Free Software. https://www.fsf.org/about/what-is-free-software Also, about the BSD thing... where someone or some company can hijack free software...

Re: SMDrums v3 + Round Robins

This looks awesome and I'd love to start looking at the sfz option. From what I see, these are meant to be used with sforzando which only runs on non-free windoze & OSX. Can anyone suggest an alternative to Sforzando that runs on GNU/Linux? Maybe http://www.noedig.co.za/konfyt/ ?

Re: Linux Digital Audio and Music Workstation Comparison Matrix

Yes, the terminology is confusing. This is intentional. There are many people and entities who work to keep people ignorant in terms of software freedom. One big "camp" I'd point a finger at is the "Open Source" crowd which focuses entirely on *only* the pragmatic side-effects wh...

Re: Editing several MIDI tracks at the same place

It is my opinion that Piano Roll should have no awareness of clips whatsoever. Clicking on a particular clip should simply be a means to get into Piano Roll which should then always display every midi event on the track. This thinking is even consistant with the "follow playahead" feature ...

Re: There's a lack of Qtractor video tutorials..

Thanks in advance.[/quote] also try Edit > Split -- provided you're doing selections as Edit > Select Mode > Range or Rectangle (ie. not Clip), that splits all clips at the current selection edges, this being a modern alternative to Clip > Split which applies only to the current track clip at the pl...

Re: There's a lack of Qtractor video tutorials..

One more piano roll question. One thing that drives me batty is how Piano Roll limits what it displays to the clip that's been selected. The net effect is that I could be looping 8 measures but only see 1 of them if the clip I used to enter PR is 1 measure long. That means I'm missing 7 measures wor...

Re: There's a lack of Qtractor video tutorials..

Am I missing something in terms of how to split clips efficiently? Right now, all I know how to do is move the play ahead to the location of my desired split and then either right click and select clip/split or use the same entry from the top menus. This work flow would be fine but it's tedious when...

Are we talking about https://github.com/stevefolta/SFZero? If so, that looks like it's a Mac-only solution?
