Re: Free acoustic drum bank for DrumGizmo, 1.7 GB, round robin

That's not necessary if the directed chokes feature in DrumGizmo is working correctly (which officially in 0.9.19, it is not). The bug fix is in the development branch though. See the discussion here from when I reported this 10 months ago. If you build DrumGizmo from the development branch (as of J...

Re: Compiling (from latest git source) on Manjaro...

I just tried building DrumGizmo again, in case the version of automake changed since I had posted (in case that was the issue and it was resolved in an update of automake). It failed the same way as before. Here's the info: automake --version automake (GNU automake) 1.16.4 Copyright (C) 2021 Free So...

Re: Distortion in Waveform

Have you disabled usb autosuspend? I had issues similar to this using ALSA (and Jack) at low latency settings with USB audio devices until I disabled that. The audio device is most likely "aggressively going to sleep" when it's not used, with the default setting of the distro. Unfortunatel...

Re: Trouble installing AAS vst plugins in AVL-MXE

That path isn't in a Wine prefix. That's a Linux location for Linux VST files (.so, not .dll). Did you choose to install it there instead of in the Wine prefix? (If so, why.)

Re: Perfect Drums

It appears to work well in Reaper for Linux using Yabridge and Wine-tkg 6.4, using the example kit and mapping files they provide.

Some plugins have issues with later versions of Wine, so for now 6.4 is the safest recommendation (although it doesn't take much to switch Wine versions).

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2nd and 3rd Gen mixer driver

furanku : Did you disable USB_autosuspend? If you're trying to use low latency settings with ALSA, that can be important for USB audio devices. I had to do that for my 2i2 otherwise I had the same issue as you. In Pulse it worked ok for a while but in ALSA, it started having problems immediately. Y...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2nd and 3rd Gen mixer driver

Since kernel 5.14 rc1 was available in the kernel manager of Manjaro (the distro I'm using), I installed it and tested this new support for 3rd gen Focusrite Scarlett devices. It seems to work propery in all regards for the device I have (2i2). Performance in ALSA at low latency seems to be approxim...

Re: Directed choke issue in 0.9.19?

This fix works of course. Thanks! However, someone just messaged me on another forum saying my drumkit doesn't work for chokes. :) They're using 0.9.19 as it was officially released (without this fix). I know you want to wait to release 0.9.20 as a bugfix release, but since that could still take a w...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2nd and 3rd Gen mixer driver

Hi Geoffrey, I understand testing every device is important, but modifying a kernel in the way described on that page you linked is too confusing to me. The instructions gloss over many things that I don't already know; it assumes the reader has more knowledge to be doing this sort of thing. I don't...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2nd and 3rd Gen mixer driver

Hi Geoffrey, Thanks for the work you're doing with these devices! I'm hesitant to test this since it would mean patching a kernel and I've never done that before. I don't want to mess up an otherwise working system, for what would most likely be minimal feedback that I could provide (since I only ha...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2nd and 3rd Gen mixer driver

Is there anything specific I could test/log output from/etc that would be particularly useful? I think a good general test for how stable it works would be: can you use a blocksize of 32 samples with 4 periods (using ALSA) without xruns, assuming you're using a samplerate of 44.1 KHz. (With Manjaro...

[request] Default MIDImap: always load

The new default MIDImap feature is nice. When starting DrumGizmo for the first time (with no kit loaded), loading a kit now only requires loading of the kit xml file, as long as a default MIDImap is specified within the kit xml file. However when I want to load a second kit xml file (to replace the ...

Re: Compiling (from latest git source) on Manjaro...

I just did this instead: git clone -b develop http://git.drumgizmo.org/drumgizmo.git --recursive (First I had to discover the exact name of the development branch, of course.) Anyway it failed to build on Manjaro at the very next step (./autogen.sh). That was the issue after realizing I had to find ...

Re: Reaper MIDI vs. Mixbus MIDI

Yes, not all JS plugins are open source. Most are free, and "open" in terms of the transparency of the code and ability to edit it, especially since it's code which is easy to read. Although I know of one person who obscured their JS code to make it "unreadable".

Re: Reaper MIDI vs. Mixbus MIDI

Re: plugins, there's really no significant difference since Reaper started supporting LV2. I would argue that there's a very significant difference: Reaper also uses JS plugins, which are open source and work on any version of Reaper on any OS (since they only compile at runtime, by Reaper when it ...
