Re: Please testers needed: Debian Package to Optmize Linux Mint, Ubuntu and Debian Based OSs
I'm sure the devs had great intentions with this but it seems to have stalled in August. They never fixed the massive error which claimed to install an RT kernel but actually did nothing. IIRC it also frequently pinged the internet to check for updates, not something you want happening while record...

There's also the music-daw >> https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?p=121543#p121543 >> https://github.com/joao4linux/music-daw which is kindly developed by @basstrombone and a friend of his. THX! There is also a lot of potential in it if you critically adapt the music-daw to the current state. ...

Please testers needed: Debian Package to Optmize Linux Mint, Ubuntu and Debian Based OSs
Greetings everyone, First I want to thank this group which has helped me so much making me possible to use Linux as a musician! Because of this, I've been using all the links and advises, a friend/brother João Almeida from (Federal Institute from PE-Brazil) have developed a debian package that optim...

Re: qjackctl Won't display on Mint Sound Settings
Hi everyone,
Yesterday I did a fresh install on Mint 19.3
Optimized and it happened again in a different machine.
I start Jack But It does not appear on sound preferences.
I'll review my install procedures but I've never faced it before. This never happened.

Re: qjackctl Won't display on Mint Sound Settings
I had trouble upgrading from Mint 18.x to 19.x. Just weird problems everywhere. Rather than troubleshoot I just did a fresh install of Mint 19 and then everything was fine. That was faster than trying to ferret out what went wrong with the upgrade. Good luck, and I hope you get it running soon! I'l...

I did it many times didn't work.milo wrote:I dunno. Maybe boot with the older kernel and see if that works.
It's an old install. I've been upgrading it since 18.3
Maybe the whole thing is too messed up.
I'll keep reading

Re: qjackctl Won't display on Mint Sound Settings
Have you used qjackctl or anything like that to try to control jack? Was it working in the past and then stopped working? Not really. Just turning Jack on, to start MixBus as usual. Nothing happened. Then, tried to see it on sound controls and realized that it was not there. as you can see i the pi...

Re: qjackctl Won't display on Mint Sound Settings
Have you used qjackctl or anything like that to try to control jack? Was it working in the past and then stopped working? Yes I have. Before these two new Kernels .... I'm not sure what is going on. As you can see on the image file (attached here), Jack is on but sound settings doesn't recognize it...

qjackctl Won't display on Mint Sound Settings
Hello everybody ! I'm having a very strange issue on Linux Mint 19.3 Kernels 4.15.0-72-lowlatency and 4.15.0-74-lowlatency. Jack simply doesn't appear on Sound Settings and I can't open any sound application (e.g Ardour, MixBus). Because the subject is new for me, I was wondering if any of you has e...

Re: Focusrite Saffire Pro 40: Tips and tricks
Before I forget: Still related to the snd_dice chipset, If you don't blacklist the alsa modules for it, and set qjackctl as "firewire" It won't start. Either use ALSA (as it is with its already mentioned limitations) or blacklist the ALSA in order to run FFADO Driver with Jack This is happ...

Re: Focusrite Saffire Pro 40: Tips and tricks
No, not boring at all!. Merci, basstrombone, for both suggestions. I have tried to optimize my machine for audio, that is, I've installed a low-latency kernel, set priorities in audio.conf, added myself to the audio group. Most of this from reading various how-to's and guides. But I've never gone t...

Re: Focusrite Saffire Pro 40: Tips and tricks
Other downs: Not able to play YouTube videos anything via jack (probably because we have black listed the send-dice command) which is fine with me (I want a machine that records nicely) If I want to listen and watch videos etc. Just switch to on board and I'm totally cool with that. I have all my b...
