Ever use ORCA sequencing environment?
A friend of mine made this video to show off ORCA, which is sequencer I guess (although they refer to is as an environment.) I suppose it could be used for things beyond audio, but in the video she's using it to control midi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ig84_4RF5E Every character does some kind...

Re: Percussion Synthesizer
Thank you so much for your work! Listening to "A Moment of Childhood". Beautiful... I'd love to know more about your tool selection and workflow. Hello, thank for you encouragement, also those form PM! I am using only free software on GNU/Linux. Here you can find (and are the only) tools ...

Re: Has anyone tried Zoom H5 with linux?
Correction: I have taken a look at thomann.de , the device of my student is not a h5. But in the reviews it says that it works with linux: https://www.thomann.de/de/zoom_h5_reviews.htm (it's german, just search for linux, you will understand that paragraph even without german skills). This, of cour...

Has anyone tried Zoom H5 with linux?
I rely heavily on field recorders for some of my music. I had a Zoom h4 that lasted me years. But it was recently stolen. I thought I might replace it with the upgraded model, the H5. I like that it has interchangeable mics. That way, I don't have to replace the device if the mics go. https://www.zo...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?
Only supporting official builds seems very reasonable. The original thread is long, and I'm struggling to follow the whole story. But here's what I make of it: The person in question wanted support for a version of ardour that was in their distros repo. But the developers are willing to support thei...

Avocado Overdose - Instrumental
This is an instrumental background track that starts off easy and gets crazy towards the end. Drums use the 808 pack for Hydrogen, and I'm using ZynAddSubFX for a few ambient sound effects. I recorded the rest in Ardour, and mastered the best I could with JAMIN. I'm not a great audio engineer yet, b...

Re: Just a chill-out tune
Roland Sound Canvas is bad-ass!
What was the change you made that got you better results with Linux? Was it switching to Yoshimi? I'd love to know more about how you got the sounds.
Love the tune, by the way. It feels like a soundtrack.

Re: Beast
Thank you for sharing. The demo video was intriguing.
Out of curiosity:
How does Beast differ from similar programs (LMMS, for instance)? Is it more lightweight?
Does it have support for JACK, or are there plans to support it?

Re: Seeking feedback: My new Hydrogen Drum Kit
I would suggest keeping the names of the sounds rather than correlating the names to a real drumkit. It would be really nice if you could expand this kit with more sounds. As for the instrument names, I'd say keep them as they are. Thank you both for listening to my new kit. I've incorporated your ...

Re: here's an idea using AI
yes services like LANDR https://www.landr.com/en That's what I mean. They're using something with intelligence that masters the music. I'm now suggesting an AI kinda software plugin or standalone like JAMin but when you feed your music to it, it will do what LANDR does but you will have the final s...

Re: Why Linux? And why Linux for pro-audio?
Considering that some of the best recordings in history were made using inferior technology, compared to today, I'd say it comes down to skills. None of those 'best recordings' would be any hit today, but they would be considered 'some garage recording'. Personally, I don't listen any pre-80's beca...

Re: How to play cuban rhythms
If anyone was interested in learning cuban rhythms for drumset, I would highly recommend this book:
https://www.amazon.com/Afro-Cuban-Rhyth ... 0897245741
It's considered a classic among drummers. It doesn't just teach you a few beats. It shows you an entire approach to rhythm.

Re: Why Linux? And why Linux for pro-audio?
It CAN'T be good as you didn't use the good (accepted) software. Well, to be honest, it often isn't as good. There is a lot of good music made from free software but the majority of the time you can tell. Whether that's down to the tools, or the creator's skills, or a mix of both, I don't know. Con...

Re: Rapsberry pi3 electronic compositions
My dream is to setup a lightweight studio for raspberry pi and linux. How many tracks were you recording simultaneously? Did you have any latency issues? Hi loxstep  hello, latency problems I have not detected, considering that the buffer for the behringer uca 200 is set to 1024. For the trac...

Seeking feedback: My new Hydrogen Drum Kit
I created my first drum kit for Hydrogen, and I'd love to hear your feedback. The working title of the kit is "Rhoda." It's made from percussive found-sounds: pots and pans, buckets, nuts and bolts. I tried to give it a sound-collage feel. All samples are licensed cc-0 no rights reserved ....
