Re: Sharing some works

Bravo, Polk9! Refreshing - I am stuck in my own little rabbit hole quite often so it's nice to hear stuff I wouldn't listen to often.

Re: Need new tablet

Hmmm. Had a look at those. The support for connecting to a Linux PC seems a bit off. Also, the screen is tiny!

It's also on the upper end of what I'd spend, honestly.

But thanks!

Re: Need new tablet

Sorry for not making my original post clearer. Don't pretty much all tablets run iOS or Android? The only others I'm aware of are the Surface tablets, I'm not sure if they can run Linux though. I was thinking about replacing my inexpensive laptop with an inexpensive tablet. That's why I put it in th...

Need new tablet

Hello everyone. My Chuwi laptop (running MX Linux) is misbehaving a bit at the minute (and has a really terrible webcam!), and I'm looking for its replacement. I want a small device that I can use to video myself playing instruments, so I can look at form generally. I might occasionally make a video...

Hello folks. Just a quick question. I understand you can use this cheap field recorder as a usb interface/microphone. Is this true on Linux? I have actually read conflicting things online with some people saying the device can only use USB to power up. Is it hard to understand, or maybe a firmware t...

Re: Why does giving your music as a gift feel awkward? Should it?

Something that people almost always appreciate seems to be when you play happy birthday to them on their birthday. And it's cheaper than a card. I think the important thing is to stay under a minute. Otherwise, Idon't think I would want to share what I do for a hobby with people who hadn't directly ...

I accept that. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Peertube exists. I just don't want to see stuff like that. There's much on YouTube that I don't want to see either!

I think I'm going to self-host something. I will look at Mediagoblin. Thanks.

Re: Privacy respecting YouTube alternatives

I visited the front page. Without typing anything in, following the "trending" section had three videos about paedophilia out of the first 30 linked videos. It put me off, rather. Reminds me of some of the awfulness on Usenet in the nineties.

I could just share audio.

Privacy respecting YouTube alternatives

Hello all I've been trying to ignore the issue, but I am increasingly finding myself unhappy about using Google services. IME they are not a force for good in the world. The latest is asking me to upload a driving licence, passport or credit card before letting me see age restricted videos. I'd like...

Re: Should I carry on with my Tascam DP-006, or would I be better with Audacity?

Yes, orchestras really do sound like that. :) I have a theory that the pinnacle of achievement of any musician was to be employed by one of the big Hollywood film studios around 1930-50. All those instruments, all had to be perfect, often with no rehearsal. If one person made a mistake, everything ...
