Re: Anyone else having Ardour 6 segfaults?
Limited direct experience but I've tried the free version on Kubuntu 20 and got indeed continuous segfaults. I did some research and I got the feeling that many many people have been having similar experiences with the free version, while the paid one is much more stable. YMMV. If you think you may ...

Kick drums & basslines from sine oscillators, LFOs and envelopes (Re: How do you write/sequence drums?)
Some time ago I was asked on another forum to share how I create kick drums with modular synths, in a wider discussion about the low end in techno music production, which also covered basslines. I suggested the following steps, which include examples based on VCV Rack (https://vcvrack.com) and I thi...

Re: Better performance in Windows
Is VCV able to run without Jack? Yes, and I get better performances that way. Alsa only, without even starting Jack. I can't tell if this is because of wrong system audio settings on my part, relatively old hardware, or VCV issues. I did quite a few attempts at getting good performances with VCV Ra...

Re: Android Audio Apps that don't require access to Play Store
Thanks everybody for the effort! @ufug, re: g-apps I had the same experience, and no, Amazon wouldn't be better than Google @dormirj & @sysrqer: unfortunately Sunvox is "free for most of the systems, except the Android and iOS" @glowrak guy: it seems all IK Multimedia apps are only ava...

Thank you for the advice, Grayson!
Sequencer64 is clearly under active development, and new features are being added.

Android Audio Apps that don't require access to Play Store
Sometimes you can't, or don't want to, associate a Google account to an Android device, but you would still like to use that device to create music. Do you know any music creation apps for Android that don't require access to Play Store? That includes - apps released by their developers as .APK file...

Re: Odd response from forum search box
I guess this made the difference: I'm already getting results when searching for "Ardour" or "Rosegarden"raboof wrote:I've deleted the 'phpBB Native Fulltext' index and recreated it (which is now in progress)
Thanks!

Re: Odd response from forum search box
@raboof, could you please try this? 1. Lower the common word threshold to 0% to disable this behaviour Admin Control Panel - General - Search settings - common word threshold-setting 2. Clean search index Admin Control Panel - Maintenance - Database - Search Index - Delete Index, and then you Create...

Re: vcvrack.com - open source modular
If one simply wants to try VCV, I'd suggest to use the official code, including the dependencies in the "dep" folder, and follow the official instructions.

+1
Still impossibile to search for "Ardour".
Another example: "jd-xi" (only "jdxi" works)

Re: vcvrack.com - open source modular
anyone knows how to do LFO in this thing? Use a Tidal Modulator from the Audible Instruments modules. It's a fairly complex module and it does other things too, so you may have to read its own documentation, but it also works as an LFO: https://mutable-instruments.net/modules/tides/manual BTW this ...

Hello everybody
Hey everybody, I just joined this forum. I've been using Linux (mostly Debian-based distros) for 15 years as my only operating system, and making music since I was a kid. I currently make techno and ambient music. I focus on performing live (small performances only up to now), rather than releasing ...

Re: Sequencer64 0.9.11
I've been following sequencer64 for some time and it looks very promising to me. As far as I can recall, a QT-based interface rework is going on. I invite everybody to give it a chance, test it and provide feedback to the author. The INSTALL file provides accurate instructions about building the app...
