Re: It's Hard to Run a DAW
In no way should rnbc have to apologize. He's the author of many great apps and is a great asset to the Linux audio community. The first sentence has nothing to do with the second, it's not like people get a free "No Need To Apologize Pass" if they significantly the community, but the mos...

Re: It's Hard to Run a DAW
Dude. Really. I'm glad to observe that I am not the only one who seems being unreasonably approached. I really thought that i made a huge mistake which made me misunderstood wrong. :? Chill Luc. Relax. You can't expect someone to still be "relaxed" when most replies from the very start to...

Re: It's Hard to Run a DAW
I then can recommend Steinberg Cubase Pro 9. It's great! Be sure to hold some money behind to also buy the latest fast computer system to run it on. And be sure to buy a good antivirus protection and backup system. And start saving money for the next new setup to replace your slowing down sys withi...

Good thinking! This works too. It really might be a kernel initialization thingie.CrocoDuck wrote:Will your device work correctly the first time you plug it after the boot?

Re: It's Hard to Run a DAW
I really dislike Reaper, I hate the GUI and workflow YMMV, this isn't an answer to your problems, unfortunately, but it's my personal experience with reaper. The thing I liked most when I was using reaper was the fact that if you don't like something you can change it. The GUI, for example, is avai...

Re: jack input has huge gain
Maybe the usb bus doesn't power the interface properly, might help to power it externally? It is already powered externally, and since my condenser mic needs 48V phantom to operate and seems to be operating correctly, I'm assuming it's correctly powered. Will your device work correctly the first ti...

Re: Open source patent
I don't think my purpose is clear here. I don't want to patent something to make a profit. I want to make sure that anyone can use my design without it being patented by someone else who read my post on a forum. I also specified that this is purely hypothetical because the project has little chance ...

Re: Open source patent
You're mixing up patent and license. I don't think I am. Maybe my first post wasn't clear though. Hi! I am studying to try and build a very realistic midi controller keyboard (that emulates a grand piano's mechanics ), with an approach I believe is novel. if, say, fatar wants to make a keybed using...

Open source patent
Hi! I am studying to try and build a very realistic midi controller keyboard (that emulates a grand piano's mechanics), with an approach I believe is novel. If my understanding is correct, I could patent this, and then if, say, fatar wants to make a keybed using my technology, I have the right to as...

Re: vcvrack.com - open source modular
I'm not sure if this can help or not, but I used the upstream repo, and
was enough
Code: Select all
cd Rack
git submodule update --init
cd deps
make
cd ..
make
./Rack

Re: jack input has huge gain
Ok, this just got way more strange. It wasn't the USB port that fixed it. It was unplugging it and then plugging it again, WHILE the computer was already running. I booted up today, and I got the same problem. I tried unplugging and plugging it again, problem solved. I must stress that every other o...

Re: Your favourite music programming environment?
I am building my own general purpose programming language - not even a DSP DSL - to make a framework to use to make a daw to use to make plugins (in a non standard, simpler format). I bet you none of you ever procrastinated this hard or in a way this elaborate. :P Note that I don't actually have exp...

Re: jack input has huge gain
I cannot believe this... it was the usb port!!! The front works 100% correctly! I would have never ever thought of this. Two weeks later and I can record again!!! Tesi di Laurea: Sintesi digitale di suoni: il metodo della trasformata funzionale (in Italian). (For the English speakers: nothing import...

Re: jack input has huge gain
I'm still here, I just have been busy with some great news: I got my university of choice! yes!!! I'll update this thread with results from both all my desktop ports, and if I can find an old laptop I used, I'll see if it's different there in manjaro, and if it isn't, I'll install a couple other dis...
