Re: Granular Convolver - Raspberry Pi, custom Linux, SuperCollider

recently i've been working on uses of granular synthesis and found a few videos on this machine, interesting idea! i'm currently working on a similar project to use with grains of field recordings and found that in one interview, Christoph Hohnerlein says the following: You can check out what we’re ...

Re: Jack/USB/Xruns

right on; thanks for your suggestions! i've blacklisted everything related to snd_hda since i couldn't find a way to disable soundcard in bios, i did however disable a lot of other unnecessary devices in the bios (usb 3.0, cardreader, modem, fingerprint-reader, etc.). also gave the main rt priority ...

Re: Jack/USB/Xruns

Sadly i only have two usb ports which are located on the same bus on this machine, but i'm no longer sure it really is the mouse which causes the xruns. I've still encountered some even without the mouse in a recent recording session and i *believe* it maybe had something to do with pulseaudio? afte...

Jack/USB/Xruns

hello again after a while, i'm working on creating a stable recording setup with mixbus, a lenovo x250 and zoom h4n as audio interface. currently running ubuntu-studio with preempt lowlatency kernel. i run jack at 48khz with 256/3 buffer/periods which is "good enough" in terms of latency f...

midiclock from live audio?

hello there, i've been looking around for a simple way to get a working midi clock from a situation with live audio from speakers, i've so far found out about "aubiotrack", but it doesn't seem to generate a clock as far as i see it, it just sends midi-taps when it thinks a "beat"...

Re: Tascam US 428 for Mint

well the site is pretty old and it states that the device is now part of alsa-cvs, so by now i think it's probable that it's already part of the mainline alsa, so for now let's assume it might be and check if the device appears anywhere before jumping through hoops that will take a bit of explaining...

Re: Tascam US 428 for Mint

I don't know the state of things, but if you want help I'd suggest to give a bit more info on what you've tried, what's happening on your operating system when you plug it in (dmesg, alsa), which operating system you're running, how far your experience with linux audio goes so far, etc... There is a...

Re: When you release your music, do you credit Linux?

I would not credit linux, since i don't consider it the actual instrument being used in my cases. It'd be like crediting the room that's housing my instruments or the chair I'm sitting on. What I would do though is credit the actual software being used to generate sound or the environment for the ac...

Re: reverse-engineering ehx hog

i have access to an "organ modulator" c9 currently, i dont know for sure, but i don't feel like its doing pitch analysis, since it seems perfect for any kind of polyphony and pitch-modulation, maybe they have an fft-like algorithm that is just really fast, so the delay is beyond recognitio...

reverse-engineering ehx hog

hello, while reading another thread about analysing guitar midi notes, i've made a small comment and decided that it actually deserves its own thread. i'm kind of intrigued by the ehx hog,hog2 and the smaller versions of it like the organ pedal, mellotron, etc. it seems to me that they all use the s...

Re: your advice on Linux-compatible MIDI INTERFACES please

But what if I strum my guitar, at interface input stage , and I want to hear a different instrument , over my headphones? this is only a side-note really, but i believe there also to be another route to this issue, you might completely disregard midi and look into dsp programming. for reference the...

Re: SuperCollider + Ardour: Reflectives (2017). Eight Gestures for Eight Virtuals

highly enjoyable soundscapes, i appreciated the listen a lot! but could you go into more detail about the process? what do you define as a gesture, are you talking about when you say "virtual sounding objects" - are these 8 different ways of using physical modelling in sc? greetings- dormir
