Re: Waves Under Wind

Dragonfly Reverb glues everything together with the "small vocal hall" preset. If I would have had to guess, then my guess would have been that one. A beautiful reverb which I love. I really need to stop being afraid of recording. I have made midi tracks for many years, but they never qui...

Re: Waves Under Wind

Hi Michael, sweet and short track which shows your recording and mixing/mastering skills. A quick download and opening of the file in Audacious shows proper levels, further analysis within an Ardour (after conversion to a .wav. file, oh and I like and use 48k myself) track shows that you're even per...

Re: Manjaro?

Just read your blog post. How cool! Kudos for checking it out and reporting your impressions. One question: Why did you use a VM to demo Pianoteq? They have a standalone Linux option - I've been considering the purchase as well and have been demoing it in real time (lag free) without any issues on ...

Without strings

Just recorded my bass onto another cool track on Wikiloops: https://www.wikiloops.com/backingtrack-jam-155045.php Also on my blog at https://wolfgang.lonien.de/2019/01/without-strings/ As always I plugged my bass right into the Focusrite interface and used Ardour and a some plugins (mainly a compres...

Re: Manjaro?

Just tried it for the last day or two and wrote about it on my blog over at https://wolfgang.lonien.de/2019/01/i-had-a-short-look-at/

Very positive first impression, could easily get used to it if I didn't have a great working Debian/KXStudio machine already.

Cheers,
Wolfgang

Re: I miss you (already)

Thank you all. I have a slightly different version (other drummer and an additional guitar player) on my Christmas album:

Enjoy,

Re: I miss you (already)

That's a very good track. I also relistened to remix with just the bass and acoustic guitar on Wikiloops, that was quite relaxing. I hadn't heard of that site before. So you and the drummer both played off of the acoustic guitar and vocals, individually? Anyways, it was a nice song, well done. Than...

I miss you (already)

Hi all,

I just remixed some tracks with Ardour (and also played bass):

Also available at https://www.wikiloops.com/backingtrack-jam-153856.php

Cheers, and
happy holidays,

Re: KXStudio --> to install or not to install? --> Better Options

Hi Daniel, I'm with Luc here, and I also use Debian stable *together with* the KXStudio repositories - so I have the best of everything in my opinion. And Mint, isn't that based upon Ubuntu which itself is based upon Debian? I haven't tried it myself, but I bet that same approach with the repos shou...

Re: Scarlett 6i6 & Linux/Ardour

Hello Hedon, first, I'm glad that now you got some sound in and out of your interface. And yes, it's quite a good one, I'm really happy with mine. Check the following. In Cadence, you have to set up all channels for Jack: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4899/45193645515_c60c0d2a4c_o_d.png It might hav...

Re: Scarlett 6i6 & Linux/Ardour

Hello Hedon, nothing much to set up in that Focusrite Software - I've set mine to line on one, and mike on the other, like this: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4834/44274829000_5e11c75d5b_o_d.png and this: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4901/45179329945_3e9181a2e1_o_d.png The hint with Alsamixer is va...
