Re: Ardour starting very slow
hmm, when I run it from the terminal it shows hundreds of lines, starting like this: Ardour6 Ardour6.9.0 (built using 6.9 and GCC version 6.3.0 20170516) Ardour: [INFO]: Your system is configured to limit Ardour to 1048576 open files Ardour: [INFO]: Loading system configuration file /opt/Ardour-6.9....

Re: Plugins crash upon opening gui in Ardour 6
Are you using the Ardour from your distro, or did you download the one at Ardour https://community.ardour.org/download ? Distro versions sometimes don't work. My understanding is that the official Ardour bundles in operating system libs so they don't run into operating system problems like you seem ...

Yeah, I thought that was a dumb question...till I looked through their website. I don't have a clue. Must have been easier when I got them some time ago. Good luck!

Re: xruns while idling
I am investigating how close I can get to a reasonable setup by tuning an existing Ubuntu installation. Ideally, I would like to do live mixing with Mixbus, a few plugins, and a couple of live instruments. I would like to monitor instruments through Mixbus and apply fx live. Reading this cause I'm ...

Re: What to use to dynamically do spectral filtering visually?
I have the KXStudio repos, and I can't figure out how to run the LSP spectrum analyser. It's not showing in Carla or as a command-line program. Anyway, does the analyser do filtering? I wouldn't expect that. No, it doesn't filter. You're going to have to rig up several instances and attach them tog...

Re: Unable to delete empty MIDI region in Ardour
Nothing is ever deleted in an Ardour session. Audio/MIDI data appears in chunks called regions, which are arranged into horizontal lanes called tracks. Tracks are stacked vertically in the Editor window. Regions can be copied, shortened, moved, and deleted without changing the actual data stored in ...

Re: Using sustain pedal as another instrument
Your question implies that you currently play some drum parts with your hands, or at least, something other than your feet How do you play the 'other' drum parts now?

Re: Making own IR files for guitar amps?
https://v1.redwirez.com/ Has a free offering in the middle of the page. Each CAB has 100's of samples based on Microphone type (all the typical ones: U67, SM57, Electro..Ribbons) and Mic position. I liked it enough to purchase more. I don't know anything about the new version of Red Wire. I don't e...

Re: Free acoustic drum bank for DrumGizmo, 1.7 GB, round robin
James Peters, this is great! I had no problem getting this running in Ardour. Very nice samples recorded by Vincent Sermonne. They seem to have a nice room sound, and the velocity levels capture a lot of the differences in how the drum or cymbal is struck. As you suggested could be customized, I cha...

Re: Bass plugins + Guitar to Bass flow
Main ingredient would probably be an octaver with low latency and still good sound. But I am also interested in other plugin suggestions to shape a bass sound. Auburn Sounds Graillon has a setting for Octaver. It sounds ok. https://www.auburnsounds.com/products/Graillon.html The free edition has th...

Re: Deep editing Ardour regions
I feel like I tried this and I couldn't get it to zoom in far enough. Maybe I'll try again. Zoom goes VERY far in. I can edit individual wave cycles. In any case, I also need audacity's spectrogram view and "repair" effect to do what I need to do effectively, so I still would love an easi...

Re: DGEdit 0.10 released
I'm having a similar problem. I got past the lrelease problem by adding the lrelease location. I may have had to install it with one of these commands: sudo apt install libao-dev libsndfile-dev qt4-default I did a search and found 'lrelease' in this path, so I set the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment var...
