Re: Instrument definition for Tchimera Drumkit

Maybe hi hat splashes are naturally quieter than hitting it with the sticks?

Can I help somehow in this? I am not a programmer though...

If you have graphic design skills, that would help because I'm not great at that. Other than that, maybe one of these days you can test a beta release of a saturation plugin that I'm making.

Scream Tracker (PC)

Whoa, I forgot about this. I arranged a thing or two in scream tracker, but I lost anything I ever did with it.

Re: CALF plugins?

Not sure if this goes in this topic but these are great plugins and maybe dead. https://github.com/miland3r/eq10q Thanks funkmuscle , that's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. I only know enough about digital signal processing to get myself into trouble, but I feel like we have several old ...

Sounds much better!

Thanks for the feedback. I already put a lot of work into testing and adjusting the volume of the other cymbal samples, but I don't really use the splash sound with my play style, so I missed it.

Re: Your first DAW !

I wish I had started on the Atari ST, but as a 7-year-old kid I only wondered what those five-pin circles were on the back, and then went back to playing my games. Years later, with a 486 50mHz machine, my parents bought a midi keyboard and MusicTime.

Re: CALF plugins?

I have experimented with some plugins (I'm thinking mainly reverb) that I actually thought sounded a bit better than Calf, but used Calf instead because it was laid out in a way that I found easier to understand. What plugins are you thinking of that sound better but ate harder to understand? I am ...

Re: Instrument definition for Tchackpoum Kit

Done and done. I fixed "Kick Free".

I investigated the hihat splash samples, and found that they were recorded that way. I don't know why they turned out so quiet, but I agree with your assessment so I increased the volume by 8dB gain.

By the way, are the hihat splashes purposely so quiet?

That's good feedback, I'll see to increasing the gain on the hihat splash.

Oops, you have used the old idf: The instrument name under pitch 0 should be Kick Free instead of Kick Damp!

I'll fix it.

Shall I delete the idf from the OP?

Not yet please, I'm occupied for a bit. Hopefully I can get to this tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for your help @Impostor. You are awesome.
I will try to add it later.

I've been delayed by an emergency. Things may be slow for a bit :(
T.

Best of luck with your emergency. I'll put a few finishing touches on this project and then the IDF will be ready whenever you can get to it.

Re: Instrument definition for Tchackpoum Kit

I'm considering giving this kit a different name, since there's already the DrumGizmo Tchackpoum kit, which doesn't use all of the same samples, so there's a different sound to this one. The best thing I can think of so far is "Tchimera Kit" - A combination of the prefix "Tch" an...

Re: Instrument definition for Tchackpoum Kit

Nice! I'll add it to the project later today. I haven't used MusE much, is it common knowledge how to load the idf, or should I add some instructions in the readme.md file?

Re: What's everyone using to sequence drums?

Can't you create a single sfz with multiple audio channels? Well, that was way easier than I thought it would be. I updated the project with a full_kit.sfz file and instructions for setting up sfizz with multiple stereo output channels in Ardour: https://github.com/michaelwillis/tchimera-drum-kit?t...
