{SOLVED} Re: Suse TW + Pulse, Audacity: cannot record (AGAIN)

Thank you. What would disabling the sound card(s) accomplish? How can you get sound without them? My guitar is plugged into the Me-80 effectbox the 'RecOut' from which is plugged into the Line-In socket of the sound-card. This setup works very nicely with Audacity with or without Jack (WHEN it works...

Suse TW + Pulse, Audacity: cannot record (AGAIN)

Using two slightly date-different installations of Suse-Tumbleweed I lost recording capability with Audacity on the newer installation that's about two weeks old. I normally use Audacity with/without Jack and these are the same version numbers and configs but pulse is newer on the newer installation...

Re: dssi (Zyn) VS. standalone synths

Use Zyn as LV2 plugin. I don't think lv2 is supported in Rosegarden, if so I have no idea how to use it. As far as the standalone Zyn it doesn't remember paths so to load a config file from 10 deep in the tree for each of maybe 6 or 9 instances I find myself clicking path dialogues for an hour befo...

Re: dssi (Zyn) VS. standalone synths

I've been using the Zyn dssi (ZASF) with rosegarden but ran into trouble with it there as well as in Ardour. So when I asked around in the Ardour chatroom one reply was to just forget about dssi's as they were being 'phased out' and to use the standalone synth instead ..which means a lot more work ...

Some Rosegarden-17.2 probs

I have a few irregularities involving mostly rosegarden-17.2. The screenshots are taken in the AvLinux-2018 that I'm just tweaking but the problem I think is Rosegarden and is MUCH worse in Suse-Tumbleweed for instance where Splashma5 makes some of the dialogues totally empty. A typical setup sequen...

Re: Guitar signal software-effects post processing

The version looks like it's 0.28.3, kinda hard to tell with the black everything. http://trixtar.org/temp-pub-buffer/vlcsnap-2018-04-23-07h51m04s255.png So I DL'd the latest 0.36.1 but installing that fails (my JACK is 1.9x) ./waf configure Checking for program msgfmt : /usr/bin/msgfmt Checking for ...

Re: Guitar signal software-effects post processing

When I launch guitarix I get this warning, seems like a limiting but not a disabling problem? guitarx-memlock.png First, you need to ensure that your clean guitar signal ain't go to the playback, when you would do live processing. Means, you must check that you can't hear your guitar, without connec...

Re: *Music* anyone?

With a couple of exceptions these chords (copied from a guitar tab sheet) seem to pretty well just follow the lead track. Yes, I agree. I guess that's the charm that makes guitar so popular, but it can also be a limitation; you read a simple "G" on a tab sheet, you set your left hand in p...

Re: *Music* anyone?

Somehow I always thought that chords were supposed to be harmonic i.e. they were NOT supposed to be just repeats of the lead in 3 or more notes. With a couple of exceptions these chords (copied from a guitar tab sheet) seem to pretty well just follow the lead track. I don't know enough about music m...

Re: *Music* anyone?

Congratulations for your musical zest, keep it up! I also like the "healthy anger" that your post title transpires, I hope I still keep that kind of fire when/if I reach your age (I'm in my 44th year right now): I too feel a bit alienated sometimes among so many "techheads"; may...

Re: *Music* anyone?

Wow! That was a lot of nose-grinding hard work for someone not familiar with chords, not to mention Rosegarden's behaviour sometimes. I cleaned it up quite a bit but there are still bad sounding chords in there.

*Music* anyone?

I couldn't find a forum for this basic musical scream for help as opposed to equipment or effects or techniques, so maybe a forum called *Music Theory, Sweat & Blood* could do the job? Here goes the opener. I'm 74 and working on learning my 4th song, Bright-Eyes. As usual nothing that I find on ...

Re: Guitar signal software-effects post processing

And, this day's you could load even guitarix as plugin into your DAW: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=18280#p91013 The advance of it is that you could play live with low latency with guitarix to create your presets (effect-stack), later you could reuse them in your DAW with high...

Re: Guitar signal software-effects post processing

I've started looking at Guitarix, Rakarrack is unmaintained (done4) unless I missed something. But, Rakarrack is now maintained as set of LV2 plugins. https://github.com/ssj71/rkrlv2 They comes with the module presets from rakarrack, you could load them (most of them) into guitarix or your DAW of c...
