Re: Best way to Merge two MIDI outs (piano and drum set) into ONE interface input?

I wouldn't do it at all. If the two sources are fairly busy it will mess up the timing of both. bluebell's suggestion is much better as the sources come in on different ports so get handled quite independently.

KVR Music Cafe March contest

Once again, this really REALLY needs more support. It's not just bumping along the bottom, it's scraping a deep trench in it :( This month's topic is Hell, and with what going on in the world these days, you should not be short of subject matter. Or, you can do what one of the current submitters has...

Just a bit of fun :)

I put this up on soundcloud a couple of days ago - hope you like it (no prizes for guessing the synth)

Re: Pitch Bend Wheel fake 14 bit resolution

The problem is largely physical. Consider the actual track length of an average rotary control against the contact area of the wiper, then add in irregularities in the surface plus background noise - added to micro-movements caused, or amplified by vibration of the control wheel. The 'cheap' way to ...

Re: Pitch Bend Wheel fake 14 bit resolution

That's a bit crap! Mine varies between 50 in the centre to 80 at the extremes (prolly done to mask pot noise). Well, that's not exactly stellar either :) Still a far cry from 14 bits! You're quite right, but that's only on an elderly Midicontrol 49. The sliders on the BCF2000 (when configured as 16...

I'd guess your best bet is to get an external controller with long sliders. My BCF2000 seems to do quite well, and the controls are configurable.

Re: Audio Cards that work with Linux. Recommendations?

Komplete Audio KA6 (old and new versions). Work out of the box. Rock solid.
Maudo M-Track8 works, but no driver for internal software routing.
Venerable M-Audio 24/96 is fine if you can get a PCI adapter.

Re: New Linux musician in Michigan

If you understand the way the hardware versions are built and work, this is possible with any synth that can produce multiple instances of moderately variable sine waves - complete with drawbar emulation. With a bit more effort you can even emulate percussion and key-clicks. One guy managed to do th...

Re: What's your workflow?

I don't use a DAW as such. The "Source's" directory contains project directories which contain all the project directories. These contain sub directories of older versions, the build history, the Yoshimi patchset, the Rosegarden file. There is also an "Audio" directory which cont...

Re: What's your workflow?

Varies a bit. Often I'll be noodling around on the keyboard and changing instrument sounds when something 'clicks' and I'm away on an improv. It might stand as-is (like Open Harp) or I might add extra tracks to fill it out. Other times a short phrase will pop into my head. I'll find it on the keyboa...

Re: Honeysuckers - Sign In The Sky

I on't know. It just seems the vocal is down in volume compared to the rest, and doesn't seem to have much top-end - maybe that's partly the mic that was used.
