I also immediately thought of The Shadows - nice playing :)

Re: Hey peeps! Getting back into making music... and linux!

Almost any usb sound module will be better than the onboard sound system.

Re: Cosmic lullaby

I'm afraid (in my view) you scored an own goal with this one. I'm never keen of voiceovers, so was a bit disappointed at the start of this, then just as I was really getting into the mood there was that quite loud burst that totally wiped out the atmosphere, and I never really got it back. I gave up...

Re: Latest recordings -- what can i improve

Enjoyed the first one very much.
The second I thought was OK-ish, but a bit cheesy.
Third one gave a 404 error :(
I can't really comment on these technically. I'm not really a guitar person.

Re: Bicycle Walk

Enjoyed this. Only critic really is that towards the end the guitars sounded a bit confused and fought rather than complemented each other.

Quite liked this, but more as a musical background than specific listening.

Re: Storing projects on Google drive...concerns?

It's not legal... unless you have very deep pockets and expensive lawyers (and are preferably based in the USA). I'm quite sure of it. I can't remember the exact links but have seen numerous examples over the years on respected websites, including the BBC and The Register. Not forgetting, it's easie...

Re: Storing projects on Google drive...concerns?

Don't put anything there at all that isn't encrypted. They will scrape it for whatever information they can get, including scanning images to see if they recognise anything. They will then not only use the information themselves, but will sell it to anyone who will pay for it. You would be horrified...

Re: Yoshimi in QTractor - not stable

I notice you have a couple of Calf plugins. I've no experience of these myself, but I've read they can cause problems with LV2. (but are apparently fine standalone).

In any case, if you can pin it down, please let us know.

Re: Yoshimi in QTractor - not stable

Trying to pin this down a bit more...
Has this only started happening since V 1.5.11, or was it also doing it with 1.5.10 or earlier?

Re: Yoshimi in QTractor - not stable

Interesting. I've not actually tried running in a host alongside other plugins  I wonder if it's a GUI toolkit contention of some sort. Are any of the other plugins using FLTK? Also what is your DSP/CPU activity at the time? I find I can run reliably at 40%DSP, and sometimes over 60% without Xr...

Re: Yoshimi in QTractor - not stable

That's pretty much the same except I set for 2 periods/buffer. How many tracks are you running? Do they each have their own instance of Yoshimi, or do you have a single instance and assign parts to tracks? Separate can be easier for just a few tracks, but single instance is vastly more efficient. Cr...

Re: Yoshimi in QTractor - not stable

What version of Yoshimi are you running? The current one is 1.5.11.4 Can you let us know what the rest of the setup is? buffer sizes, sample rate etc. I've never come across this with Qtractor, and I do frequently test on it. Indeed one of my tests has it swapping entire parts while playing MIDI con...
