Hydrogen - recording its MIDI Output

Hi, Does anyone know how to record Hydrogen's MIDI output in a DAW? I find it much easier to do the initial drum pattern editing in Hydrogen and the final tinkering in the DAW. I've tried recording to Reaper, Ardour and Rosegarden with no luck. Rosegarden shows input on its meter but doesn't record ...

Roland Edirol FA-66 Firewire

Hi All, I've just bought a Roland Edirol FA-66 Firewire soundcard &, plugged into TI chipset PCIe card, it works perfectly out of the box. Currently I can run it at 256/2 & 256/3 (44.1KHz) buffer/periods but lower than that Jack doesn't allow, at least on AVLinux with KXStudio repos enabled....

Kubuntu/AVLinux with KXStudio Repos?

Hi all, One of the great things about KXStudio is its Cadence suite of tools especially Claudia - the way connections/patches should be made in audio. Simple drag to connect AND you can save you various arrangements (studios). I run the current KXStudio on my main set-up along with an M-Audio 1010LT...

Re: Firewire via PCIe Card

This is the card I bought (although it seems not to be available on Amazon UK anymore). https://amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007MO82WU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's an IOCREST SY-PEX30016. Here's the new version on the manufacturer's website (both have TI chipsets): http://ww...

Re: Firewire via PCIe Card

Thanks.
Unfortunately I only noticed that after it had arrived. I've since returned it and found one for a extra £10 that definitely does have a TI chip.
Have also bought a Roland Edirol FA-66 firewire soundcard which works perfectly out of the box :D

Re: Firewire via PCIe Card

Thanks Joermungand, I went for the 2x400 port version of that Startech card. Budget is a bit stretched. Supplementary question: If I plug in two firewire soundcards (one in each port) would I be able to use them simultaneously? For example, plug in 2No 2-input cards to get 4-inputs. Possibly Jack wo...

Firewire via PCIe Card

Hi All, I am currently configuring an Optiplex 390 small form factor Core i3 PC to be a music studio running Kubuntu 18.04 with KXStudio repos and a Low-Latency Kernel. I am looking to purchase a Firewire Roland Edirol FA-66 for it, which research indicates should run flawlessly on Linux. To do this...

Re: Driver Utiliy not working

Hi falkTX, Manually installing the nVidia Driver worked fine and it gave me a couple of extra resolutions for my twin-monitor set-up. I have a little ripple of screen tearing now when I move windows around although vsync is enabled, but it's ok for music as windows are stationary and there's no vide...

Re: Driver Utiliy not working

Hi,
Not yet. I'll try that. As it's Kubuntu underneath there should be plenty of how-tos for that.

Any ideas re the strange font corruption when scrolling sideways slowly? Possibly the proprietary driver might fix that?

Thanks. FXStudjo looks an excellent system.

Driver Utiliy not working

Hi, I've recently installed KXStudio on my music PC. It's a quad-core i5 with nVidia Graphics card. Previously I've used AVLinux & Ubuntu-Studio. Both were good (particularly AVLinux) but XFCE is so agricultural :-) KXStudio with its KDE desktop is so much nicer and Claudia is the way Jack conne...
