Re: LMMS and Linux Sampler ?

... i have lot's off ladspa plugins in my LMMS... And i create in LMMS, but eventually edit and master in ardour. I just removed LMMS from my system. Ubuntu attaches Calf LADSPA to LMMS in a dependency relationship that doesn't seem to make sense (it seems that calf-ladspa pulls in LMMS, rat...

Re: Digitally controlled gain - compatible interfaces or pres-only

I had in mind microphone preamplifier gain. I know what you're talking about. DAW gain/trim can not substitute. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the various devices sold as audio interfaces. What I do know is that my Behringer XR18 mixer can do this. It may be overkill for your needs, but I...

Re: Video player as MIDI slave?

I don't know of any direct way to do that. What comes to mind is that there are many ways to control VLC remotely. If you're that kind of person, it shouldn't be too hard to cobble together a script to translate from MIDI to VLC API.

Re: Noob question regarding latency

You don't need to run all your MIDI through the interface. You can plug the USB instruments directly into the computer. Then you can use qjackctl (or whatever you're using to configure JACK) to route the MIDI signals. If you're low on USB ports, you can use a hub for the MIDI instruments. Just avoid...

Re: Problem with my Fast Track Ultra USB card

It sounds like your FTU is working fine, but PulseAudio is making the assumption that 8 channels must be a 7.1 surround system. I haven't had to deal with this myself, because I don't use multichannel interfaces with Pulse (just JACK). I remember a discussion about this somewhere, but I have no idea...

Re: M-Audio FastTrack Ultra and Jack/ALSA

My FTU worked "out-of-the-box" with 14.04. Audio for sure. MIDI ports show up, and I think I might have tested it once (I don't really use MIDI). The only "special" thing I had to do was open an ALSA mixer (CLI or GUI both work) and make sure that each physical input was turned a...

Re: Favicon poll!

I really like the Tux-treble logo, but it's too detailed to translate into a favicon. Maybe it can be used elsewhere.

In the end I only voted for #1. In my opinion, it's simple, clear, and attractive.

Ardour from v 4 and up lets you choose between JACK and direct ALSA connections. Are you sure Ardour is set to use JACK?

Re: Ardour upgrade

Also, multiple versions can coexist on your system. You can keep the old version around for the old, finished projects, and attempt the conversion when you want to use new features in an old project.

Re: Humanizing MIDI notes in MusE Sequencer

print "beatDiv=",beatDiv ^ SyntaxError: Missing parentheses in call to 'print' This looks like a Python 2 vs Python 3 thing. If this portion of the application is in Python, maybe there's a way to force it to use Python 2. Check with the dev's docs/community/bug tracker.

Is it possible to de-select the provided mobile view, or provide a "desktop view" select switch? Agreed. It's not bad, as 'mobile' views go, but I still prefer the full-site experience. A profile setting would be best. Fortunately, the "Request Desktop Site" option in the mobile...

Re: Fast Track Pro volume control

I have a Fast Track Ultra, which looks just like yours, but bigger and with more ports. I have no idea if they're anywhere near as similar on the inside as they are on the outside. I also use Ubuntu Studio 14.04. When I first got my FTU, I found a hint about its internal routing. I used the ALSA mix...
