Musescore 3.x
Does anyone know if Musescore 3 is going to be added to the KXStudio repo soon? The Linux appimage on the Musescore site doesn't support JACK, which makes the appimage useless for testing score-driven midi.

Re: Carla patchbay layout is not being saved
At present, I have 36 plugins loaded. Most of them are sf2 and sfz. It's for a full symphony orcehstra, so I'm only about halfway through. I have another setup using LinuxSampler that functions well, but LinuxSampler is awkward to work with. I had been hoping, following several Carla updates, that C...

Carla patchbay layout is not being saved
Carla isn't saving the state of the patchbay when I save/quit/re-open. The plugins, upon re-opening, are mangled with respect to their position. Really mangled. It takes about 10 minutes to restore them to a usable arrangement. I also notice that while the Carla, Catia, and Claudia patchbays are sup...

Set midi-in port/channel and audio-out channel in Carla instrument plugins
When I add an instrument plugin to the Carla rack (sf2, sfz), I need to tell it which midi port and channel to listen on. Is this possible? I have a symphony orchestra set up in LinuxSampler, which allows me to do this, but it's unwieldy to maintain. I would like to load all the instruments in Carla...

Re: Linux Midi Orchestration (online paper)
I have also dabbled in virtual orchestration, having read some of the same articles cited in your paper (particularly the Westlund ones, which are profoundly helpful). I ended up with a very similar setup, except that I eventually decided to forego notation, which sent me down a different path lead...

Re: Linux Midi Orchestration (online paper)
Do you have music examples composed with this setup? This is, after all, the starting point. Does this lead to a good sound? There's a link at the end of the OP to an example. It uses the exactly the same setup as the paper describes. Another example is the Symphony in D minor, at https://www.youtu...

Re: Linux Midi Orchestration (online paper)
LinuxSampler is proprietary . You can't use it if you want to use only FOSS tools. The subject is midi orchestration, not F(L)OSS purity. The text avoids the term entirely, preferring "free", "open-source," and "freely-available" as appropriate in order not to mislead ...

Linux Midi Orchestration (online paper)
I've spent the past 5 years or so exploring how to set up a virtual symphony orchestra under Linux using only free and/or open-source software and freely available soundfonts. The setup is based on the idea that an orchestral composer should be able to compose at the score with total confidence that...

Re: Opera browser not playing audio over ALSA bridge
Nix that. Just as inexplicably, Opera sound is now working fine over the ALSA-jack bridge.

Opera browser not playing audio over ALSA bridge
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask. Following the Firefox pulseaudio cock-up a few days ago, I ditched FF and installed Opera. Nice browser, but it won't play audio over the ALSA-bridge. My audio setup is ALSA-only. When JACK isn't running, Opera plays audio and video just fine. However ...

Symphonic woes (Carla limitations)
I posted about this before, but after months of experimentation, I still can't accomplish what I need, which is to set up a full symphony orchestra of instrument plugins using Carla, along with equalization and reverb/ambisonics processing via non-mixer. I'm currently using NSM as my session manager...

Need help with Non-mixer spatialization module
Is anyone familiar enough with the non-mixer spatialization plugin to give step-by-step instructions for setting it up? The non-mixer manual's section on spatialization (http://non.tuxfamily.org/mixer/doc/MANUAL.html) is somewhat abstruse, and the screenshot of the JACK connections (a Carla window?)...
