Re: ALSA: I need a proper example of low-latency loop for DSP

To be honest: I absolutely hate postings like I'm going to write now. Because you were asking for help with ALSA and nothing else. If you're bored by answers leading away from your initial question - please skip this one b/c it's of no help at all. I'd suggest an Jack client, too, maybe even an esta...

Good point, would be cool if you could rework the current state (it's not that much by now), I could probably learn something.

Re: High PPI monitor and unreadable fonts

Calf plug-ins should take care of the DPI settings of the desktop, at least font-wise. Graphics are too small still. I started a new branch to add a setting in preferences, but still some way to go and I don't have the time for it atm. Additionally I started a new project I'm concentrating on, which...

Re: Why Iso and not as a Software

KXStudio is a full distribution (a collection of lots of software) built around the Linux kernel, not a single program.

Re: Stereo widening

you can just use the automation function of each track Using automation is quite time-consuming and inflexible, sine instead of linear vectors is even more complex to draw. Changing the width, the curve or the speed of the panning afterwards means to start from scratch. A plug-in offers much more f...

Re: Live mixing with Linux - State of the art 2018

DAW-wise I would try not to over-complicate things in the first place. Signal processing has to appear track-wise, although one can group things to reduce DSP load, e.g. all tom tracks can be EQ'ed in the dedicated tracks and then be sent out to a bus doing compression. Every downmixed bus simplifie...

While choosing business partners costs are a minor aspect to base my opinion on.

Re: MOD Devices sponsors Linuxmusicians.com

I'm running a Hetzner server hosting some websites including projects and services like Calf, Guitarix, ShoutList and more at a load average of 0.05. I don't see a problem in hosting linuxmusicians there as well, even if the PHPBB will eat up some of the resources (we could do a test-run or somethin...

Because it renders LEDs, knobs and logo at build time. Same with Inkscape, some minor SVG graphics are rendered to PNG while building.

Re: Stereo widening

I guess the question is what's the starting point. If you have a mix of basically mono sources with all pans at center and no modulation/delay-fx on any of the tracks then "widening" might mean to start using pan pots or adding some modulation (chorus, phaser, flanger, ...) or delay-fx (re...

Re: Stereo widening

One I haven't tried yet consists of duplicating a track, then apply some EQ to one track and the inverse of that EQ to the duplicated track.
That's what Calf Multi Spread is doing but with easier control. MSED you described is part of Calf Stereo Tools.
