Re: I need help! What is the most perfectly functioning audio/midi Interface for Linux?

I bought a Behringer UMC204HD for my brother and its Guitarix-dedicated linux.
I personally went with a Mackie Onyx Producer 2x2 as it was on sale.

Both are exactly what you are looking for. Plug(&Setup Jack)&Play

u-he autumn sale (50% off on almost everything!)

As the title says, check this out For those who don't know, u-he is a serious company providing high quality plugins and has done so for linux for a long time. Yes, they are neither free nor free but I have yet to see a crash of their plugins and if that was the case I'm sure that their support woul...

Re: Roland Space Echo

Hi! For the music I'm working on I want to add the sort of echo that the Roland Space Echo is famous for. Are you after an exact model of the RE-201 behavior or are you after an echo plugin that degrades the sound at each repeat? If it is the later, you could try: CHOW Matrix (https://chowdsp.com/pr...

Maybe start with synth1. This one even though you need wine, runs 100% in LMMS and all knobs can be automated.
Its probably also the synth I know best.

Odin is quite nice too

Re: Plugin development philosophy

Next question: Should dials show numeric values, or should numbers be hidden to encourage "trust your ears"? Both :D If it is a meaningful unit, like compressor ratio, reverb T60 or gain, it should be displayed. If it is an amount (think 65% or 2/10), I just need to know where I currently...

Re: Plugin development philosophy

imho, the value of big monolithic plugins is in their tuning and overall control over their sound. Most of them are, as you wrote, using basing dsp blocs that could be replicated in like VCV Rack. But tuning X modules offering Y controls or just twiddle 2 knobs that do the heavy lifting for you and ...

Fun fact, I was resisting to use filter changes, because that did not count as making music in my book.

Daft Punk and the entire French Touch artists disagree :P

Re: help needed, is my music repetative ?

Maybe learn a trick or two from Jeff Mills ? He's a master in minimalist techno, which isn't that far from house music. In The Bells from 0:56 to 02:36 you can hear the theme and even if it is only three notes, there is really a lot going on, with the theme itself of the other tracks/instruments :wi...

Re: Starting with Surge XT

I wish to create sounds like they are by example in psy-trance. Oh boy, I have to post this video ! :D So, it will be by example basses (like house basses), of course some percussions, background (ambience) sounds too and several "master-sounds" (I don't know how to describe them ; typica...

Re: Starting with Surge XT

What kind of sounds do you want to create? Virtual instruments to perform in a track or ambience sounds/foley/film score? Is this your first synth or are you familiar with other synthesizers/synthesis concepts? If this is the former, I would suggest you to spend a little time with simpler synths to ...

Re: Is Linuxsampler deprecated?

Gig files aren't encrypted so they can be extracted and repackaged to another format but I don't know of any good automated solutions which can do this. If anybody knows of a reliable method that could be helpful for owners of existing gig libraries if they wanted to "future proof". Think...

Re: Basic drum track

What I've done that helped me A LOT: learn what is a drum kit, what is the purpose of each piece, how it is played (did you know that you could hit a snare at least in 4* different ways that all sound different?) listen analytically to the style you want to replicate, and focus on bass drum, snare a...

Re: Studio monitors

According to Bax music, I can't use the microphone of my headset. The headphone part works fine on the scarlett focus solo. This isn't exactly the model I'm currently using but you can find XLR to TRS adapters like this one to use your headset microphone. Don't forget to activate phantom power and ...

how to make money in the Linux industry

Become a SysOps/DevOps/DevSecOps. But that would be "how to make money with the Linux industry" unless you actually sell (support for) something you created :?
