Re: Play It Slowly Through Low/High Pass Filters
Play it slowly works fine through Jack with the pulseaudio/jack bridge running. I've been using it a lot in the last couple of weeks since getting my system all up and running 100%. Slow down or key change in Play it slowly and play along with Guitarix, all output on firewire to my mixer and P.A. In...

Re: No sound from pulseaudio jack bridge
Not green, but I suppose that depends on the base OS (Xubuntu, where I'm running Mint Cinnamon). For me I click on the speaker icon right end of the toolbar, up pops the Pulseaudio applet where you can Launch Player, adjust the volume slider, Output Device and Sound Settings. I click on Output Devic...

Re: very simplified guide to installing kx studio in mint 17
I did it the other way around installing Linux Mint Cinnamon as my base system and then installing KXStudio on top of that. OS is all Mint but with the programs and tools all installed from KXStudio. The guide you linked in the first post is a bit of a catch all and covers a lot of stuff. I installe...

Re: No sound from pulseaudio jack bridge
Probably a dumb question but have you selected the Jack sink as the Pulseaudio output device? I only recently got my Pulseaudo Jack bridge working after realising I needed to install the extra package. Looked like it was running OK but I was still getting Pulseaudio sound out of my laptop speakers i...

Re: Jack Buffer vs Periods Trade-off
Thanks for the replies. Yes I am deciding over 2 frames/buffer vs. 3. With 3 it seems I can go a step or so lower in buffer size. Cadence measures latency ignoring the frames, so the lower the buffer the lower the latency. JackCtl includes frames so would measure higher with frames of 3. Maybe I nee...

Jack Buffer vs Periods Trade-off
I now have my firewire system up and running very nicely and am playing around fine tuning Jack and learning about some of the great music software available. My question is about Jack settings. As I've read in numerous places sample rate, buffer size and periods/buffer all effect latency. Advise is...

Re: KXStudio & FFADO install order in Linux Mint
Just wanted to post the final outcome of this problem. I've been working with FFADO developers via the mailing list and they have been super helpful providing amazing support. I can't say enough about how great they have been to deal with. So along with learning way more than I thought I would, we'v...

Re: KXStudio & FFADO install order in Linux Mint
I would do a test: connecting the Mackie mixer, the booth from live-dvd iso kxstudio 14:04, configure cadence on firewire driver, -r 48000 -p 256 or 128 -n 3 (engine -> server synchrounous mode, less xrun) disables the module wi-fi (less xrun), turn off the mixer FW, turn it back on, force restart ...

Re: KXStudio & FFADO install order in Linux Mint
Was just reading about issues with having other drivers on the same interrupt as your sound card. In this case it lead me to wonder what else was stacked together with the firewire controller. From the ffado-diag I posted earlier: IRQ 0: PID: None, count: [30871, 27974], Sched None (priority None), ...

Re: KXStudio & FFADO install order in Linux Mint
The thing that kills me about this is I've had this mixer running with firewire for something like 8 years, and probably the last 5 years or so of that with this HP laptop. With the Windows driver I never had a drop out or other fault. So under Windows the JMicron firewire hardware is totally capabl...

Re: KXStudio & FFADO install order in Linux Mint
And if I change over from jackd2 to jackd1, I still get the message that Jack failed to start but the Cadence log doesn't list the errors that are there with jackd2: Mon Apr 27 08:39:42 2015: Starting jack server... Re: KXStudio & FFADO install order in Linux Mint
Thanks Alessandro. My HP is a dv6-1242TX. I've read about lots of people having problems with HP laptops and JMicron firewire controllers. Maybe I need to look into a TI based controller. Which PCI card did you end up getting? Frustrating thing is I did have this working for a brief time and it was ...

Re: KXStudio & FFADO install order in Linux Mint
I've read that once the firewire port fails to connect to the device, every subsequent attempt will fail until the device is powered off and back on or the cable is unplugged and plugged back in. The output from jackd -d firewire -r 48000 -p 256 -n 3 I posted earlier in this thread was after multipl...
