Re: Ubuntu-Studio Plug-ins GUI broken in Ardour
I had that problem with eq10q (and all its versions) in both Ubuntu Studio 18.04 and 20.04. Solution was to download it from here: http://eq10q.sourceforge.net/?page_id=16 Then first uninstall the old version (that came from the ubuntu repositories): $ sudo apt remove eq10q After that go to the down...

Re: Ardour functionality or plugin to synchronize recordings
Thank you.
This looks promising but it's intimidating to even start reading those links. I don't see myself getting this running until Wednesday.

Re: Ardour functionality or plugin to synchronize recordings
The most optimal solution would be if I could use both USB audio interfaces simultaneously on one computer. I am under the impression that this is not possible. But maybe I am wrong? Is there maybe a way to do this? I've heard that aggregate devices can be run on a Mac easily, on Windows it's more o...

Ardour functionality or plugin to synchronize recordings
I am going to record a classical chamber music concert next week. I have an USB interface with 4 mic preamps that I am going to use. But I'd like to also use an additional fifth spot mic. The only way to do this is to use another additional laptop PC that I have as well as an old Focusrite Scarlett ...

Re: Greetings from Germany

Re: Greetings from Germany

Re: Greetings from Germany

Re: Roland Rubix sound cards
I need to buy a USB audio interface with 4 mic inputs with 48+ phantom power that will work troublefree with Linux. What is important to me besides that is that the audio quality is good and especially that the mic preamps sound good and are very low-noise as I plan to do also classical music record...

Re: Greetings from Germany

Re: A linux musician's video meeting?
I don't know if I can make it tonight but I have one question:
Does fairmeeting work well with Firefox or is it as with some other video chat platforms (MS Teams, Webex) that I would have to use a Chromium based browser? (Would have to install that first since I only use Firefox on my main computer.)

I am a big fan of lush spring reverb (my main amp is a Fender Vibrolux) but that is a bit much.

Re: Spring reverb
It is more Beach Boys than Dick Dale, so it might not be quite what you're looking for. Thanks. Yeah, the guitar is not very exposed or really featured as a lead/solo part but I get an idea. What I can hear sounds promising enough to follow that route. Here is a screenshot of the plugin GUI for tha...

I use gtick (it's in the Ubuntu repositories; the latest version is from 2020).

Re: Spring reverb
For what it's worth, I did a surf rock tune recently and found that Dragonfly Plate did a solid job on the guitar. It fooled my collaborator into thinking I had used a spring reverb. YMMV, of course. Hi Milo, would you give a link to that sound file? I'd be interested to hear that sound. And what s...
