Re: Best current Ubuntu for KXStudio

Sprock: What did you end up doing? First I thought of installing Xubuntu 18.04, set it up for audio, and add the KX repos. But then I dropped that thought and just left it as is. So I am still using UbuntuStudio 18.04 with Backports-PPA. Mainly for two reasons: 1. I have so many other things to do ...

Re: recent projects show up twice in Ardour because of symlink

Did you try deleting the project list in Ardour? How can I do this? I'd like to try this first since it would be the easiest solution. ............................................................................................. @zoco: Did you also work with symlink for the directory? ................

Re: recent projects show up twice in Ardour because of symlink

A workaround would be using your project directory as the mountpoint for your other drive. Sorry, I don't understand. How would I do that? ................................................................. To give information what I have done: UbuntuStudio ist installed on /dev/sdb4. That data parti...

recent projects show up twice in Ardour because of symlink

My system is Ubuntu Studio 18.04. I've created directories on a partition on another drive for Ardour (and Mixbus) to store the projects. But the place I've set up in Ardour and Mixbus to save is actually a symlink (in my Homefolder) to that directory on the other drive. This results in the phenomen...

Re: Best current Ubuntu for KXStudio

One of the Studio developers has recently made comments that adding KX packages will break Ubuntu Studio Controls and they do not recommend or support use of KX This is bad news for me; I've just installed Ubuntu Studio last weekend and was about to add the KX repos (and amongst other things I want...

no splash screen (plymouth) in Ubuntu Studio with dual boot

I have installed Ubuntu Studio 18.04 + Backports-PPA next to an existing Ubuntu 16.04 on one notebook (with UEFI) as dual-boot. The installation of UbuntuStudio I have done with $ ubiquity -b so that it didn't generate a bootloader. After doing a sudo update-grub in the main system (Ubuntu 16.04) th...

Yes, that is the notebook‘s internal soundcard.

Thanks for showing me your setup. I must say that the entire Jack thing has always been hard for me to understand.

Re: Ubuntustudio 19.04 Jack Gui with new functionality

As for the graph you posted. [...] Is it possible the audio ports are off the Patchage display area? i.e. the scroll bars on the Patchage window? Good idea. But no. Then I installed Carla and it's the same there as well. (See screenshot attached to this post) Could it be that "system" is ...

Re: Ubuntustudio 19.04 Jack Gui with new functionality

Just curious, when you plug in the Focusrite, how does it show up in Carla or Patchage? Two sources, two sinks? Pulse? The X32 just shows up as 32 sources/sinks when I plug it in. Okay, so I installed Ubuntu Studio 18.04 and added the PPA. After the Update it looked quite 19.04-ish but there is no ...

Re: Ubuntustudio 19.04 Jack Gui with new functionality

Thanks for the info. By the way: Have you filed a bug report?

Yes, I will be using a USB soundcard (Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 [1st gen.]) with it.

I think, I'll just give it a try and hope that it works alright with my setup.

Re: Ubuntustudio 19.04 Jack Gui with new functionality

I'm asking because I was planning on installing UbuntuStudio 18.04 with the Backports PPA as my new audio distro this weekend. Your experiences don't sound encouraging though and make me rethink. Have you used only the UBS Controls for jack management or mixed up with QJackCtl? Has anyone else had t...

avlmac, did you use the UBS Controls that come with 18.04 or the new version via the Ubuntu Studio Backports PPA?
