Re: KXStudio project is currently on a break
I discovered this when Filipe canceled my monthly donation to the project. I pray to all the pagan gods that the project is not dead...

Re: Permissions Oddity following server compromise
Hmmmm. Alright, I'll keep digging. It's just that nothing changed in our install script package config between the first working machine and the subsequent borked ones (except the compromise to the server.) At least if it is not a problem with the repo i won't have to worry about more surprises late...

Permissions Oddity following server compromise
run this: sudo apt-get purge kxstudio-repos kxstudio-repos-gcc5 sudo rm -f /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kxstudio* and add the kxstudio repos again. So I gave this a shot and still had problems. A little snooping showed that some folders have the wrong permissions for some reason. As an example, /usr/lib...

Re: linuxaudio.org compromised - 2018-01-29
I have three lab machines that I was unfortunately trying to install KXstudio on (repos) while the servers went down. I now have three systems that *think* kxstudio-meta-all and dependencies are installed, but they are not. After the server came up, I ran an update and upgraded Ardour, the repos, et...

Okay - Good to know. That's easier than what I was having to do. I'll give this a shot next time the problem occurs.falkTX wrote:I know the issue,

Re: Ardour3 -- Error Creating Session for Some Users
So I can confirm that new users do not get the memory lock issue. I consider this thread closed for the issue stated, but... The first time Ardour launches and I run through the setup, it crashes. The 2nd time (and thereafter), it starts up OK so I'm not terrifically worried. Still, the output is be...

Re: Ardour3 -- Error Creating Session for Some Users
LOL -- okay: mea culpa. I don't know where/what typo I would have made, but **anything** is possible. Hopefully all my new users will "just work" as well. I'll post if they don't so we can continue on this fun journey of exploration together. Thanks for all your help and specifically for t...

Re: Ardour3 -- Error Creating Session for Some Users
The output of ulimit -a would seem to indicate that limits.conf is not in effect :P max locked memory (kvytes, -l) unlimited So even though things now work, I don't know why nor what changed. I guess I have to create some more new users and see what happens. I'm beginning to feel like I'm chasing my...

Re: Ardour3 -- Error Creating Session for Some Users
oh - and about the '-' I've seen this in other forum posts. I tried specifying 'soft' and 'hard' to no effect. I also read on another forum that 'unlimited' wasn't working for some folks -- that a number had to be entered. I can link to that post if you like, but you can easily find it by searching ...

Re: Ardour3 -- Error Creating Session for Some Users
I manually (and quickly) typed in (here in my forum post) what I put in limits.conf -- so yeah, its a) incorrect (in the post), b) not actually what is in our limits.conf file. As for why putting that line in the wrong file worked, I can't say. Does limits.conf override what's in audio.conf? What ha...

You know what happens when you make assumptions.
Look - it doesn't matter - but your comment was unhelpful and unnecessary. That's all.
