Re: I can't install Cadence and Jackd

Looks like your repositories are messed up. Maybe try to remove everything involving kxstudio from the repositories and reinstall them from scratch, following directions on the official kxstudio site.

Re: Using Carla in windows 7 64

Cool then. Anyway, on windows in order to use jack, you don't need a jack-aware app, any asio-capable app should do, as jack has asio connectivity.

Re: Using Carla in windows 7 64

Your jack settings look good. Unfortunately, I can't think of any other fix right now. Maybe file a bug report and try a different software in the meanwhile. There is this freeware app with the catchy name "vsthost", it's a little buggy but working. http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vstho...

Re: Using Carla in windows 7 64

If you post a screenshot of your jack's settings, I can take a look, maybe there is a problem there.

Re: Using Carla in windows 7 64

Based on my testing, I would suggest to concentrate on Carla 64-bit beta3. Not sure following can help, but you might want to try, after selecting jack in Carla, to stop Carla's own internal engine and then to start it again. Also make sure you are not running Carla as administrator and maybe check ...

Re: How should I set up ffado-dbus-server to start at boot?

Regarding killing and then starting jack, seems like jack is automatically started on your machine, but with the wrong settings, so perhaps the proper way to fix is permanently change the settings. You can do this by choosing the firewire driver in Cadence. Or from the command line with jack_control...

Re: How should I set up ffado-dbus-server to start at boot?

My use for audio in Linux is very different, so I can hardly comment on your specific questions. However there are some general considerations that might or might not relieve some of them. - Controlling jack with "jackd" should be avoided on a system where jackdbus is installed. These are ...

Re: Using Carla in windows 7 64

Ah, looks like when running Carla (any version) as administrator in windows 7 64-bit, it can not connect to Jack. Maybe this is the issue the OP is experiencing? Also the 32-bit version crashes on attempt to load any plugin at all, including internal plugins (I only tested in "single client&quo...

btw there is a windows port of dbus:

That is not to say that I have tried it or know if it's any good. But it would be cool if we could use the same KXstudio tools on Windows.

Mini-guide for networking with Jack

Hi there :)

I posted this guide to the KXstudio section of the forum, but then I thought that more linuxers might benefit from it, so I decided to link to it here:

Cheers!

Re: Using Carla in windows 7 64

I did a quick test on my system (Win7 64-bit with Jack and qjackctl, I think I compiled jack from source some time ago, but this probably doesn't matter), with following results: - carla beta2 32-bit finds both "normal" jack driver and asio jack driver, as well as the regular asio driver f...

Re: Bugs and requests for KXStudio 14.04

Another wine-rt related request. For quite some time I'd been unable to run Altiverb in Reaper with WINE_ENABLE_PIPE_SYNC_FOR_APP enabled, getting "failed to create pipe object" errors in the console and then having wine crash and corrupt Altiverb storage data, and sometimes also corruptin...

Re: Bugs and requests for KXStudio 14.04

Looking into using the features of wine-rt patches, I discovered this script installed from the repositories: /usr/bin/wine-rt Apparently it should set the environment variables to load wine with the rt functionality initialized. Which is useful. However it won't work with executables that have spac...

Re: Does reaper come preinstaled with kxstudio 64bt?

Update: I've just had Gparted screw up the boot sector on one of my laptops, so I've had the chance to try the aforementioned Boot-Repair on my own flesh. It worked! In 2 minutes I had a working system again. Looking at it's output, seems like it can work with uefi, too. Nice thingy.
