Re: Behringer UMC404HD stuttering / audio gaps

Maybe we should compile here a list of what works and what does not work without extensive OS upgrade within the Behringer UMC404HD universe. So far, we know that units with code of bcdDevice 1.12 work, and that units with code of bcdDevice= 1.35 require extensive upgrade to Linux operating system T...

Re: Behringer UMC404HD stuttering / audio gaps

I recently obtained a Behringer UMC404HD. Although I haven't fully tested it, this device appears to be fully working for me. My currently running platform is: $ uname -a Linux amnesia 6.0.0-0.deb11.6-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.0.12-1 bpo11+1 (2022-12-19) x86_64 GNU/Linux I have others bu...

Re: Can't use outputs of Behringer UMC204HD

Hello, I just got a Behringer UMC404HD on which initially I thought I experienced this exact problem. What I found is that the UNC404HD's output is unexpectedly much lower in volume than with my other interfaces. I turned up the main output control knob and set the mix control knob appropriately. Im...

Re: Having difficulty setting up computer for audio

Audio interface and computer itself as well as all attendant software are both set at and running at 48kHz. Also, note that rebooting the machine into the earlier installation with no change to physical connections results in flawless performance. I still haven't figured this out. I'd rather not aba...

Re: Portable setup for recording natural sounds

I use a Tascam DR-05 It works well. I had only to invest the (short) amount of time required to learn how to operate it. That Tascam DR-05 is now an obsolete model but "digital recorder" is a mature format IMHO and most units sold should record reliably close to state-of-the-art quality au...

Re: studio monitors

This is an update... The Yamaha HS5 speakers remain an excellent choice for me. I have since changed location. I have put the studio into a larger room of a more conventional type of building. This building/room is built on the ground, of brick and stick frame construction, with drywall, carpet, cei...

Re: My opinion about everything (TL;DR)

There is an old saying: 'when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail' The saying may arise from this: "I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail." -- Abraham Maslow https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_the_inst...

I posted this here: https://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=19268&start=60#p106031 Maybe I should have posted it here. I have a USB interface: USB-Audio - USB Audio CODEC Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio CODEC at usb-0000:00:12.0-3, full speed I was running set at: periods = 3 buffer...

Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs

I have a USB interface: USB-Audio - USB Audio CODEC Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio CODEC at usb-0000:00:12.0-3, full speed I was running set at: periods = 3 buffersize = 256 (or 512) block latency was reported by Cadence to be around 5ms (or 10ms) I held this setting because I thought that 3 periods w...

Re: How can I eliminate pop sounds from alsa_in and zita-a2j working on ALSA loopback?

I'm stupid but what I would do first is record the pops and then analyse the recorded sound so that I might identify a probable origin.
