Re: Your first DAW !

Oh you sweet-bitter Nostalgia  Like GMaq I also started 1995 with a 486DX-33 pc using the "Turtle Beach QuadStudio" package consisting of the "Monterey" (Tahiti soundcard + Rio 1 MB sampling module) and "Quad" (4 audio track recording software) and "WaveSE&qu...

Re: Yoshimi

I am using Yoshimi from here

on a Debian 12 system. Both the stand alone and the lv2 version (within Reaper for Linux) work well.

A great "Thank You!" to folderol and Hermann for their engagement! :D

Re: Reaper and top Linux samplers as plugins: how to even set up?

@ Alex Stone: Found a problem using ace-fluidsynth in other apps outside of Ardour. The Ardour based gui doesn't show at all, and relies on local alternatives in DAWS like Qtractor and Muse4, which are incomplete. (The channel selections for patches are missing for one example) Using Reaper it looks...

Dear folderol!
I've been online just now and the connection quality was very low. Sad, because I was looking forward to meeting you to say "Thank you" for your great yoshimi synth which I am using with great pleasure recently. 8)

Re: Reaper and top Linux samplers as plugins: how to even set up?

Back to topic  The latest precompiled Fluida crashes on my Debian 12 system, because of mismatching fluidsynth versions (v3 :: v2). It works fine although if compiled especially for Debian 12. I also have some scaling issues. Very good alternatives are: The "ace-fluidsynth" from Robi...

I am also no friend of today's flat themes. I love these ones, they work very well on my Debian 12 Xfce System:

@OccinticLady

I don't know your exact needs but (as so often) Reaper can be your friend:

Re: De-clicker for Linux?

Yes, the other alternatives I mentioned are useful for removing static noise.
But for mouth smacks and jaw clicking noise go for "spectral editing".

I don't know, maybe these reaplugs come in handy, especially ReaFIR?

Re: De-clicker for Linux?

To my knowledge by far the best tool for removing mouth lips and jaw noises for native Linux comes included in Reaper for Linux: noise reduction by spectral editing. On youtube you can find videos from Kenny Gioia. Additionally you can throw a look at "noise-repellent", "gtk-wave-clea...

Re: Rosegarden 21.12 Crashes

OmegAudio You are using a quite old version. Next week version 23.12 will be published. In the meantime you can download from my website the latest release compiled yesterday for Debian 12 (should also work in Ubuntu): "www.stockinger.org", then klick on the "Musik"-Tab. Did you...

Re: Need USB audio interface

Hi there! I am using a MOTU M4 which works perfectly well with ALSA under Debian 11/12 when using kernel > 6, otherwise (kernel < 6) you'll need jack. There is a MOTU M6 which "should" work perfectly well too. The technical specs of these units are at least very good. See the specs here &q...

Re: When is enough, enough..?

Or, you can do what I do. Have one computer dedicated to music making with nothing except ALSA and Jack, and a different machine for all the junk. +1 @ folderol I install Debian 11 from a netinstall iso image and build up a complete audio workstation using only ALSA and in my case Jackd2. Softwares...
