Well, you could use both, as i do (keep an ubuntu vanilla and ubuntu studio) and you can boot them both from the same screen, so you don't even need to push the F11 button. Have you tried running it from a different port? I have the 2i2, and have never had this happen. Hi Aistis i did have onboard sound turned off already.
