Re: Non-Session-Manager fork descalation

btw. do you ever see one of the FLTK developers winning about the fork to NTK? Talking in more broad terms, within and external to linux audio, it seems that forks only have a tendency to brew conflict when they compete with the original project in some way. That can be splitting a userbase which h...

Re: Non-Session-Manager fork descalation

From what I've seen it's a degree of forks being an intrinsically painful event, but a large portion of the friction comes from the representation of the fork. Code licenses dictate what recipients of code/software can do. It doesn't go into any of the social implications of the how. Some of the iss...

Re: Non-Session-Manager fork descalation

There are "Linux Audio Announce" mailing list guidelines: Only release announcements related to linux audio, or at least FLOSS audio. No offtopic (such as normal spam), no discussions, no answering to other release announcements. Exactly, see also https://lists.linuxaudio.org/listinfo/lin...

Re: Non-Session-Manager fork descalation

It was tried to twist that into >>THEN YOU MEAN NON-SESSION-MANAGER MUST BE ALL THAT!<<, which is ridiculous. I totally get the initial aim and goal of the statement. The problem seems similar to going to a grocer to pick up some salt. You could end up with 4 boxes which say "X-brand's salt&qu...

Non-Session-Manager fork descalation

So, hopefully this isn't entirely out of place. For those following other mailing lists, there has been ongoing action in regards to non-* and a current fork. The fork had plenty of good reasons for occurring, though it would seem that the current way the fork is represented has escalated the situat...

Re: Adding some oscilloscope style probes to Zyn

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out the best places to fit the probes without messing with the layout of other components too much. I'd think that at a minimum for general add/pad/sub parameter editing there's already a visualization pane in place which it could swap out for or somehow share space with. ...

Adding some oscilloscope style probes to Zyn

Hello everyone, I wanted to show the start of a new Zyn feature being done by Micky who is working with the project through google's summer of code. Zyn can be a complex beast, but I think part of that is due to having a variety of fairly simple blocks strung together and mixed together so the final...

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 3.0.5 - “The Butterfly Effect” Release

The restriction for the standalone multi-out is that the jack framesize is identical to zyn's buffersize. As long as you're willing to change what jack's framesize is then zyn's would shift as well. (note that this restriction is not present in non-multi modes).

No problem. The issue about the builtin keyboard is/will be tracked via https://github.com/zynaddsubfx/zyn-fusi ... /issues/53 .

Re: Zyn-fusion MIDI channel selection

I just checked on my laptop and the virtual keyboard in the fusion UI is only sending to MIDI channel 1, but at least in standalone operation synthesis happens from the right MIDI channels (testing with parts 1/2 and MIDI channels 1/2). If you're having issues with zyn responding to MIDI events, tha...

Re: A video promoting the use of open-source software for music production

OK. So the one posted here by Will is THE one then, isn't it ? Goodness no. Documentation on ZynAddSubFX forks does not constitute ongoing effort for a ZynAddSubFX manual. That document does not cover zyn modernization efforts which have occurred over the years, huge swaths of it are duplicating in...

Re: A video promoting the use of open-source software for music production

All right guys. Why oh why are there 3 different on-going versions of a Zynaddsunfx manual ?? ? There's only one ongoing version of a user manual for zynaddsubfx. There's plenty of non-ongoing locations for documentation for zyn, however most of them focus on the 'what does X do?' questions rather ...

Re: kode (plugin toolkit)

i hate writing documentation and specs (like all coders?), but i'm currently trying to put together an introduction thing, that hopefully will explain a little about the toolkit, the what's, why's and how's.. so, give me a few days, and it might all be a little clearer.. Then I'd stick with somethi...

Re: kode (plugin toolkit)

After a quick look at the project I'd say it's trying to be too many things at once and it does reinvent the wheel more than need be. I would recommend writing down in the readme what the goals are and clearly define what is outside the scope of the project. By spreading yourself too thin, then it m...
