Just tried it, and compared it with Beatrix. There's a lot to like about azr3.

Beatrix does a tonewheel emulation whereas azr3 doesn't. I find the sound of be's drawbars to be more "vibrant" and authentic than azr's. Both have key click and release envelopes, but azr's are easier to adjust. Since percussion is closely tied to tonewheels, again I find be's more vibrant, although azr does have more variety in its settings. In raw organ sound, Be has the advantage.

But Be's overdrive effect sounds really weak compared to azr's. And be's leslie can be obnoxious on its fast setting.

I'm going to investigate mating the best features of each.

Nope. There's no package for it, and it has way too many dependencies to compile easily.

Update: I discovered that the calf organ is indeed installed with the plugins, but for some reason the only host that lists it is the calf host. Anyway, I tried it out. This is very versatile and sounds best of the bunch. I think I'll just stop working on Be, and investigate patching calf to use alsa directly so latency can be minimized for live use.

someone needs to review this stuff so people know about it.

I'm back to testing OBDX, I got it working fine (in Carla) as a VST (but not LV2). But in the VST, any saved patches don't load. Can you fix this at all?

Nice catch ! Built without complaint, works perfectly with Bitwig.

Another sweet synth. Includes multiple waveforms for the operators, a nice 81z-ish touch.

It's written in Delphi, so I don't think it's possible.

I planned an article on organ synths/plugins for Linux a while ago, it's still on the back burner.

What we need is one or two professional writers besides myself. Danboid could get published, there are a couple of other decent prosers out there.

How did you build it exactly? I tried to but it failed at a certain point. With no instructions or requirements listed I don't know what the problem was.

I think I just ran make. I made sure that ~/src/vstsdk2.4 existed, and I'm pretty sure that there were no other considerations. I built it on Fedora 19 x86_64.

Where does the build fail for you ?
