I used Jack all the time from my first inst of AVLinux (4.7) when I ran into some trouble and someone at the Ardour suggested I leave it out. I run into trouble easily it seems ;)

That may be PulseAudio's settings. Your Ubuntu installation might use Gnome as its Desktop Environment, mine uses XFCE4 and I don't have said cog-wheel.

I don't even know what desktop I'm using, sorry. The one that came with Ubuntu 22.04, never looked into it.
