Death Metal

Post by apathity »

I'm happy to announce some demos to my upcoming Death Metal demo CD: https://soundcloud.com/apathity

My workflow is fairly simple: I use Ubuntu with Gnome, a behringer USB interface, jack, Audacity and of course guitarix. The guitar tone is rough (as it should be) and I'm extremely happy with what you can get out of guitarix. I'd like to release patches when I have time but I'm using an old version of guitarix and am not sure if the patches will work on newer versions.

I will record all the vocals on Linux too and am advertising it as such on the website and everywhere I can: http://www.apathity.at/

For the drums I've used Hydrogen with a mix of the Death Metal kit and some garage kit I think, then sent it to a programmer who's using Windows. For songwriting and pre-production Hydrogen is really cool but with my limited time I wasn't able to get a satisfying drum tone out of Hydrogen yet. Programming all the fills by hand is too much hassle for me right now. But I'm working on it.

Thanks

Thanks funkmuscle, I'm sure this style of music isn't that popular around here (I see more posts about synthesizer than guitar) but wanted to announce it anyway because it has been really a lot of fun to create music on Linux.
