Has anyone used Synthclone to sample a synth? I gave it a try, but it seems to stop recording when the midi note is released, in other words, it doesn't record the release, resulting in an abrupt-ending sample.
Does anyone have any experience in this?
Alternatively, is there any other automated sample process? A manual but time consuming way that might have some potential is creating a midi sequence with different notes/velocities, each about 10secs apart for example. Then, playing the sequence through the synth while recording the result. You'll be left with an audio recording with the different notes 10secs apart. Then you split up the file, name appropriately and use swami or something to create an instrument.
Any suggestions on a better way to sample a synth?

It's been a while since I last saw the video, but it was quite educational and might address the release issue you're having:

Unfortionately you can't tell from the video whether he has the same issue or not. He samples drums, which won't necessarily have the same problem as a continuing strings sound, for example.

Renoise has such a function, includes even an autoloop finder.
And Bitwig has a bounce to multisample function. It does not have an autoloop function, but at least
the multisample description file is in xml, so can be converted to other formats
